RESEARCH scientists in South Australia's outback have conducted a second supersonic jet launch in less than a week.
The HyShot IV scramjet blasted off from the Woomera rocket range today as part of research that could eventually cut commercial flights from Sydney to London to just a few hours.

Today's tests involved a collaborative effort between the University of Queensland and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in a $1.3-million program to obtain data on pressure and temperatures during the short supersonic flight.
