先日、Congressional Laneのタウンハウスで大きな火災があり2軒の日本人のNIH研究者の御家族が大きな被害にあわれました。偶然にも双方の方とも面識があり、何らかの形でお力になれないかと考えております。ご協力お願い致します。

現在、MARUICHIのモールにあるジャパニーズコミュニティセンターで、寄付、義援金を、また、NIH内部でもR＆Wで募っているようです。

すでに様々な形の情報でご存知の方も多いと思いますが、
本日（12月4日（月）午前）、Congressional Laneのタウンハウスで火災があり、
二軒の日本人のお宅が被害に遭われました。

特に、そのうちの一軒「滝北様方」は全焼し、
全部の持ち物を失われました。
日本人コミュニティーとして、助け合うことができればと思い、

以下の点で、ご協力いただける方は、ご連絡下さい。
１）衣類（特に、7才女の子、４才男の子、男性用）
２）食器、キッチン用品etc
３）家具？

Dear Friends and Members of the NIH community,

As you may have seen on the local news or read in the Washington Post, an unfortunate accident occurred on Monday, December 4, 2006 in the 200 block of Congressional Lane. As a result of a car crash in the Rollins Park Apartments complex, a gas meter was struck and there was an explosion. Six town homes were destroyed in the ensuing fire and seven families are homeless, some of whom are NIH employees.

The NIH employees affected work in NICHD, VRC/NIAID, NIAMS, and NCI. Each family has young children. One NIH fellow broke her leg and requires surgery. These families have lost everything they own, and while the Red Cross has helped them to find temporary housing they are still in need of help.

We are hoping that the NIH community will come together to help these families in their time of need. We ask that if you wish to make a donation, you make checks payable to the NIH R&W Foundation, Family Assistance Fund. Checks can be dropped off at any store (Bldg.31, Bldg.10, EPS, Rockledge or NOAA) or mailed to
