日本語と英語のニュアンスを比較することは、旅先でよくあったりします。

飛行機の乗り継ぎのとき、フランクフルトの本屋さんで、川端康成の　"Ｓｎｏｗ　Ｃｏｕｎｔｒｙ"を見たとき、これで日本の雪景色はとても思い浮かばないと感じました。

台湾へ旅行したとき、故旧博物館で、春秋戦国時代のことを"Ｓｐｒｉｎｇ　ａｎｄ　Ａｕｔｕｍｎ　ｂａｔｔｌｅ　ｐｅｒｉｏｄ"というのを見たとき、なんじゃこりゃという感じで、吹き出してしまいました。

さっき、インターネットで検索していたら、法律の文章は、英語のほうがかえって理解しやすいと書いてあるものにいくつか出会いました。

せっかくなので、中学校のときに、社会科の先生に、覚えたら職員室まで来て、暗証しなさいと言われたような箇所を英語と日本語で見ることにしました。

〔学問の自由〕第23条学問の自由は、これを保障する。

〔家族関係における個人の尊厳と両性の平等〕
第24条婚姻は、両性の合意のみに基いて成立し、夫婦が同等の権利を有することを基本として、相互の協力により、維持されなければならない。

２　国は、すべての生活部面について、社会福祉、社会保障及び公衆衛生の向上及び増進に努めなければならない。
