カウフマン幕間インタビュー

Q: What attracted you to the role of Cavaradossi?

JK: Well, I have to contrast basically it's a music. The role of Cavaradossi has not the one has - many rares of - mere psychological, things going on, he is pretty straight forward and but it's such a joy to sing all those lines,every single lines is breathtaking and beautiful. every time I'm doing actually, I think dreams come true, oh! god, I'm really allowed to sing those lines, wonderful.

Q: One of the most famous tenor arias in repertoires is coming up in next act, "E lucevan le stelle", so haunting, what is your approach to this particular music and text?

JK: Well, it's very intimate thing. because there sitting alone and looking back what he has achieved and what he loves most, what he will never see again and never left too much in my life so, it should start very cozy softly and partly destroyed but not then obviously it breaks up and he is getting really angry. ha ha.

Q: After today you are putting Cavaradossi to us diving into the role of Don Jose, MET Carmen, we can't wait for, what's the process? Jonas, drawning off one role and taking of another, is it easy to feel to do?

JK: Well this case is not very difficult. Because those two pieces are not so far away. But obviously it is the target to always have the other singing mind, we have been reheasing ready quite a long time so now for the Carmen, I had to tell to myself ,"Don't stab at soprano, it's a wrong opera" (laughing)

Q: Patricia told us it is a favourite moment when she gets stabbs Scarpia, she loves that.

Q: Next season you'll be back in Helden roles in Met,Walkure Ring circle conducted by James Levine, very excited about that, tell us about what you looking forward about the opera, at that circle?

JK: Oh, yeah, it's gonna be really exciting because actually it's gonna be my first Walkure and to part of the Ring circle Walkure, and the other tenor roles, Siegfried, I have to wait little more, so I really thrilled and ready for another I heared Peter Gelb has already told me the inside information, so I'm very curious.

Q: Nothing you can share with us?

JK: Unfortunately not.(Laughing)

Q: Bryn Terfel will be Wotan as a matter of fact, your Scarpia would be your father.

JK: Exactly. Rehearsing already, exchange some ?ber glances, ha ha.

Q: You have special chemistry between you and Patricia and Bryn, is it just a pure luck?

JK: Pure luck I mean it can happen, chemistry is no idea but in this case just it's outstanding. so much fun we are really enjoying ourselves the production out there, because whole casts are beautifully matching each other not forgetting Fabio Luigi in the pit, also does a brilliant job in it's actually my first time to break with him excited and hopefully actually we do more another new production Tosca with him couples of months in Munich so now I know now it's also gonna be more fun.

カウフマン：やはりまず音楽ですね。役的にもすごく心理的で、物事にストレートに対処していくわけですが歌がとても美しくてこれを歌えるのは役得です。

インタビュアー：第3幕には有名なアリアが控えていますがどう対処しますか？

カウフマン：すごく内面的なシーンで、一人で座って今までの人生を振り返るわけです。何を成し遂げたか何を愛しているかそして命はもう長くなく、死んで何もかも失うって。気持ちよく歌い出しても最後は感情が爆発し、すごく怒って歌うんです。

インタビュアー：この後すぐにカルメンのドン・ジョゼをやるわけですけど、どう役柄を切り替えるのですか？簡単なことですか？

カウフマン：今回の場合はそう難しくありません。この2作品はそう違いません。でも歌う気持ちが違うのは確かですが、もう稽古もしているし準備はできてます。僕が特に気をつけているのは、「ソプラノを刺し殺すな」ってことです、違う話になっちゃうからね（笑）。（カルメンの幕切れはメゾ・ソプラノのカルメンをドン・ジョゼが刺し殺す）

ＪＫ：わ～信じられない（笑）。

インタビュアー：来シーズンのリング「ワルキューレ」に出演されますがそれについては？

カウフマン：すごく楽しみです。僕の最初のワルキューレ（のジークムント）だし。ジークフリートはまだ待たなくてはなりませんが、ピーターゲルブが秘密の内部情報を教えてくれたので、もうわくわくしてるんですよ。

インタビュアー：私たちには何も教えてくれないんですか？

カウフマン：残念ながら（笑）。

Ｑ：ブリン・ターフェルがヴォータン役ですよね。敵役が今度は父親役ですよ。

ＪＫ：そうなんです。もうリハーサル済みです。？を交わし合ってます（笑）

インタビュアー：パトリシアともブリンとも相性がいいみたいですね。これは単に幸運だったんですか？

カウフマン：幸運ですよ、そういうこともあるんですよ。相性がいいかはわからないけど。今回はすばらしくお互いに合っていますし、ピットですばらしい仕事をしているファビオ・ルイージも忘れてはいけません。彼とは今回初顔合わせですが数ヵ月後にミュンヘンでまた別のプロダクションでトスカをやりますのでそれがますます楽しみになりました。
