It turns out on the 25th that the Vietnam government has told the Japanese government the plan stably supplied to Japan about the rare earth especially with high scarcity (rare earth) also in a rare metal (rare metal) indispensable to manufacture of high-tech apparatus.

　TOYOTA TSUSHO and two trading companies of 双日 will found a Vietnam national resources company and a joint corporation, and will set about development of a large-sized ore deposit from the 2009 fiscal year soon. For Japan which depends for 90 percent of the rare earth volume of import on China, it leads to stable reservation of resources.

　What is developed jointly in both countries is the Don Pao ore deposit which is 280km northwest of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
5000t of years which hit about 1/4 of the amount of consumption of Japan is scheduled to begin production from 11 years, if early, and to be supplied over about 20 years. Although the Japan side is due to ask for 49% of rights and interests at two companies, it says, "Most rare earths produced have a high possibility of becoming those for Japan" (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry management).

　A rare earth is a material indispensable to manufacture of a small and powerful permanent magnet required for the motor of a hybrid car, the hard disk for personal computers, etc., and future demand increase is expected.

　The plan of the Vietnam government was told to the deputy ministers from the Yoshikawa 貴盛経 in the middle of the month this month in the policy dialog between the both countries in northern Vietnam and a furlong city. The Japanese government is going to back up tapping of resources from now on through maintenance of the geological survey by the oil natural gas and the metallic mineral resources mechanism (JOGMEC), the road of the circumference which utilized Official Development Assistance (ODA) etc., a bridge, etc.
