「ジャンヌ・エビュテルヌの肖像」（モディリアーニ）Portrait of Jeanne Hébuterne (Modigliani)

向かって左側はニューヨークのグッゲンハイム美術館にある「黄色いセーターのジャンヌ・エビュテルヌ」。右側は今回出張の際に立ち寄った倉敷市の大原美術館所蔵の「ジャンヌ・エビュテルヌの肖像」。モディリアーニは私の最も好きな画家のひとりとあって、大原美術館のモディリアーニは以前から気になっていた。今回、実物をようやく見ることができて、感無量だった。

ところで、私は「白の時代」のユトリロも結構気にっているのだが、なんと都内に76枚ものユトリロ絵画の収蔵数を誇る美術館があるのだとか。全然知らなかった。

かなりアクセスが不便ではあるが、今度行ってみようと思う。

On the left is Jeanne Hébuterne in a Yellow Sweater at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. On the right is Portrait of Jeanne Hébuterne from the Ohara Museum of Art in Kurashiki City, which I visited on a recent business trip. Modigliani is one of my favorite painters, so I had long been curious about the Modigliani at the Ohara Museum. Finally seeing the actual painting this time was deeply moving.

By the way, I also quite like Utrillo’s “White Period,” and it turns out there’s a museum in Tokyo boasting a collection of 76 Utrillo paintings—apparently the largest number held by a private collection worldwide. I had no idea.

Although it’s quite inconvenient to get to, I’m thinking of visiting someday soon.
