エラスリス・マックス・シャルドネ2021 Errazuriz Max Chardonnay 2021

今回開けたシャルドネも思いのほかみずみずしい味わいで、十分楽しめた。
グラスに注ぐと、濃いめのイエローで、少し麦わら色のニュアンスが見える。香りは白桃や黄桃、グレープフルーツ、シナモン、白系の花など。もっとパッションフルーツっぽいフレーバーを予想していたが、そこまでではなかった。味わいも思いのほか酸が豊かで、リッチな果実味がありながら、コッテリ系になっていないのがいい。普及価格帯ながら、どしっかり作られているなぁとと感心する。
2～3Ｋ台のシャルドネは、マコンやシャブリなど、未だブルゴーニュにもよいものがあるので、競争は厳しいかもしれないが、逆に言えば、少し背伸びすれば、一般庶民もいろいろ楽しめるありがたいジャンルともいえる。

This bottle is from the white lineup of Errazuriz’s Max series. I often enjoy the reds in this range—like the Cabernet and Syrah—which are consistent, reliable, and perfectly suited for everyday drinking. The price usually hovers just above ¥2,000, making them reasonably accessible.

The Chardonnay I opened this time was surprisingly fresh and lively—more enjoyable than expected.

In the glass, it pours a deep yellow with a hint of straw. The nose reveals aromas of white and yellow peaches, grapefruit, cinnamon, and white flowers. I had anticipated more tropical notes—perhaps some passionfruit—but that wasn't the case here.

On the palate, it delivers bright acidity and rich fruit flavors, yet avoids becoming overly heavy or creamy. It maintains a good balance—nothing cloying or fatiguing—and feels thoughtfully crafted for its price range. I'm genuinely impressed by the level of care that seems to have gone into making it.

In the ¥2,000–¥3,000 range, there’s still healthy competition from Bourgogne wines like Mâcon and even some entry-level Chablis. That said, this price point offers a surprisingly wide range of enjoyable options, and it’s great to see quality wines like this remain within reach for everyday drinkers.
