The 37-year-old mother of one said: 'I got married late, when I was 31. So, I already had my own career in the music and fashion industry.
'It was easier for me to continue with my own surname. Besides, I'm proud of my heritage and coming from a family with only female children, I felt it was my duty to carry on the family name.'
［訳］
「自分の姓を持ち続ける（結婚しても旧姓を持ち続ける）方が、私にとっては楽でした。さらに、私は自分の受け継いだもの、兄弟が女の子だけしかいないということに誇りを持っています。自分の姓を持ち続けることは自分の使命だと思いました。」
［コメント］
シンガポールでは、結婚後自分の姓を選択できるため、「山田・鈴木 花子」というように、2つの姓を組み合わせた名前を使っている人が多いようです。
便利ですね。
