My Aqua-Terrarium and the Lighting Setup

​普通テラリウム用の水槽は、前面のガラスがカットされていて、水量も少なく水中には植物もあまりレイアウトされていません。

Normally, terrarium tanks have the front glass cut off. They also have less water and fewer plants in the water.

それはそれで素敵だと思うのですが、専用の水槽を購入するにもお金がかかります。

I think that style is nice, but buying a special tank costs money.

​私が使っているのは普通のガラス水槽(30cm)です。

I am using a normal glass aquarium (30cm).

​ですから水中にもメダカ、シュリンプ、タニシ、ウィローモス、アナビウスナナが共存しています。

Because of this, fish (Medaka), shrimp, pond snails (Tanishi), Willow Moss, and Anubias Nana all live together in the water.

そうすると、必然的に水中、水上、両方に光をあてて上げる必要があります。

This naturally means I need to light both the water area and the land area.

​そこで写真の用に2種類のライトを使っています。

So, as you can see in the photo, I am using two types of lights.

ともにアームが自由に動くので、光を当てたい所に自由に設置できます。

Both lights have flexible arms, so I can set them up freely to light the areas I want.

​欠点としては、鑑賞に邪魔だと思う人もいるかもしれません。

The drawback is that some people might think they get in the way of viewing the tank.

​本来なら真上から水中まで届く大きな照明を設置できれば良いのですが、値段も高くなるので、私はこれで充分に満足しています。

Ideally, I would install one big light that covers the whole tank from above. But that costs a lot, so I am happy enough with this setup.

​これからも、色々と工夫しながら楽しみたいと思います。

I want to continue enjoying this hobby while trying new ideas.
