　The 2012 Hautes Cotes de Nuits Blanc has a fragrant bouquet

　“Hautes Cotes”. The palate is medium-bodied and here, the 15%
　new oak just leaves an impression but does not obscure the fresh
　citrus fruit. This should offer pleasant drinking over the next
　two or three years.

　The 2012 Vosne-Romanee Village comes from two parcels in
　“Les Barreaux” and “Aux Communes”, the former representing
　a good 70% of the blend. It is actually one of the last cuvees
　to be harvested as it is a cool site. It has a tightly wound,
　slightly laconic bouquet that takes some coaxing from the glass,
　eventually offering black rather than red tertiary fruit.
　The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut red berry
　fruit with a crisp, chalky structure towards the finish. This
　will probably need two or three years in bottle to really unfurl.

　The 2012 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Chaumes has a very pure and
　fragrant bouquet with fresh strawberry and Morello fruit, fine
　mineralite and a sense of elegance. The palate is medium-bodied
　with chalky tannins on the entry, the fruit starting off red
　at the front of the mouth but finishing black with tautness and
　briskness. Compact at the moment, this will mellow out nicely
　if left 5 or 6 years in the cellar.

　New since 2009, the 2012 Corton-Perrieres Grand Cru comes from
　a vineyard that Jean-Nicolas confessed needed a lot of work
　when they took over. It has a relatively light nose compared
　to some of the other grand crus tasted. The palate is clean
　and pure on the entry with supple red cherry and cranberry fruit,
　although it needs to muster just a little more complexity on
　the minerally finish. This is one to watch.

　The 2012 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, which sees almost 100%
　new oak, has quite a sensual bouquet underneath that carapace
　of new oak that is embroidered nicely with the fruit. The palate
　is medium-bodied with succulent ripe but firm tannins that lend
　this Clos de Vougeot bewitching symmetry. Silky smooth in texture,
　it feels long and assertive on the finish, but never over-powering.
