安部元首相の暗殺事件以来、政治家と統一教会の関係が話題となっている。世界では回教徒の過激派によるテロや、原理主義者による専制国家が多くの人を苦しめている。こうした対立をなくそうと、世界の宗教指導者が集まって、平和の達成を目的とする会議がカザフスタンで2003年から開かれており、今年が7回目だという。回教、キリスト教、ユダヤ教、神道、仏教、ゾロアスター教、ヒンズー教などの40以上の宗教が集まるという。精神、道徳、教育における宗教の役割について話し合い、女性の地位向上と過激派やテロへの対策を支持することを表明する。めざしているのは寛容と尊敬、信頼に基づく国家、社会の統合であり、それには対話と妥協が大切だと述べている。
なぜこの会議がカザフスタンで開かれているのか。この国には3834の宗教施設があり、そのうち70％は回教だという。また、世界の主要な宗教であるキリスト教、回教, 仏教、ユダヤ教、ヒンヅー教がこの国の近くに起源を持つことも関係しているのだろうか。
こうした集まりは素晴らしいことだと思うが、宗教は本来自分の神だけを信仰する排他的なものだと理解しているので、それを超えて協力することができるだろうかと大変興味がある。
The relation of Unification Church with politicians is a current political and social issue in the wake of the assassination of Sinzou Abe, the former prime minister. Globally violence of Muslim extremists is very serious problem. Leaders of over 40 religions including Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Shintoism, Judaism and Hinduism, has met since 2003 in Kazakhstan to discuss the role of religion and to unite different religions.
This congress aims to unify the state and society through tolerance, openness, respect and trust. For this end It emphasizes the importance of dialogue and compromise. So far it demonstrated the support for women's social status and the advanced solution for countering extremism.
Why has it been held in Kazakhstan? Because there are as many as 3,834 religious entities, of which 70 % are Islamic. I suppose another reason is that this country is geographically close to the foundation sites of the four main world religions such as Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Judaism.
It is very important that leaders of different religions get together for world peace and people's welfare. But to the best of my knowledge, each religion has faith exclusively in its own God. How do they overcome this barrier?
