Workers of those companies work 80 % of their usual hours for the same pay in exchange for promising to deliver 100% of their usual work. As a result of this trial staff turnover fell and recruitment was improved at them.
The companies involved in this trial include those in marketing, advertising, construction, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, arts and entertainments .I heard that the similar trial was conducted in the US.
Somewhat similar attempts were made at some local government offices in Japan. But they didn't get very positive results so far.
