NEW YORK 8212; Newsweek magazine selected Fukuoka as its pick for Japan in its ranking of the fastest-growing cities in each of the world's 10 "most important" economies, dubbing it one of the "unlikely boomtowns," in its edition published Monday.
The U.S. weekly said that while the rate of population growth in major cities such as Tokyo and New York has slowed, that of smaller "Second Cities" is growing, and they are destined to become the center of development in coming years.
