そう、彼は今空を飛んでます。今頃太平洋の真上かな？アラスカあたりかな？

911テロ事件があってからというものの、やはり飛行機に乗ってる間は気が気じゃないですね。無事に到着してくれることを祈ってます。

一方私は大掃除の仕上げに忙しくしております。もう少ししたら関西空港に行かなくては…。また続きは帰ってから書きまーす！

※あちこち出かけるので、そのたびに日記を更新していきますが、お返事がなかなか出来ないと思います。ご了承くださいませ～♪

I finally arrived after what seemed to be a 24 hour flight-but it was only about 14 hours.

I worked hard for a window seat to enjoy daylight during the entire flight.

But the pilot took us to the Arctic Ocean-where there is no daylight in winter!

When we finally turned south again, it was to fly several hours over Siberia and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic-making a sharp turn before we entered China airspace.

Two questions, if anyone can answer them:

Is it still "Union of Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR)"? (Siberia and Russia are simply states or provinces of...the USSR?)

Why would my airline take the described flight path from Chicago to Osaka?
