It’s been quite the wild ride over the past month for holders of the revolutionary layer 2 Polygon (MATIC) token. July has brought a whirlwind of new announcements and ecosystem innovations into the project. We came into the month of July with a token price of only USD .46 , and we are currently sitting at around USD .73 at the time of writing. During this time we have seen a high of just over $.95 USD , almost reaching USD 1 . The token has at times completely detached itself from its big brother Ethereum, and taken its path up and down. It has been one of the strongest gainers, and one of the most interesting projects in the crypto space lately.

On July 13th, it was announced that Disney had chosen Polygon as one of its six companies to participate in their 2022 Accelerator Program , which is a business development program designed to spur grow in a select few innovative companies around the world. This year, Disney decided to focus on partnering with AR, NFT, AI, and Web3 companies. Over the course of the program, each company in the program will receive guidance and mentorship from Disney’s senior leadership team, concluding with a Demo Day in the fall at Disney’s studio lot in California. Following this huge announcement, the price of Polygon skyrocketed beyond any
other token. Although it never reached it’s 2020 highs, the healthy growth has impressed holders and new investors alike.

This massive news was supplemented only a week later with the long-awaited Polygon zkEVM announcemnt on July 20th. Polygon zkEVM has been called The Holy Grail of Layer 2 Scaling . The technology will reduce transaction costs and greatly increase throughput on a layer-2 rollup which maintains the security and decentraliztion of Ethereum. This will allow developers to easily deploy applications written in Solidity to take advantage of the ecosystem’s robust developer tools, just as they do on the Ethereum mainnet. This kept Polygon’s tokens price up, with a dip into the mid $.70’s USD during the last week of July.
