鮭が群れをなして川を上っていく頃となった。川で生まれた鮭は、海で大きく育ち、産卵のために故郷の川へと帰っていく。鮭は海中で１～５年過ごすとされているが、不思議なことに彼らは自分の生まれた川をよく覚えており、長く海で生活した後でも、ほとんどの鮭はもとの川に戻ってくるそうだ。

Salmons are said to spend 1-5 years in the sea, but astonishingly they remember the river where they were born, and even after living in the sea for a long time, most salmons come back to the original river.
