Asahi Weekly
Yesterday I tried to read Asahi weekly. Before reading it wasn’t easy for me and took a long time to read. Recently I found I can read articles even if I don’t know some words in articles. Trying to read articles guessing the meaning of words unknown is fun. Yesterday I read some serious articles .Couple Arrested After Starving Boy Found. ticket!!!
Where is my ticket!!!!!!!!!I was looking for my ticket to go to somewhere at the statin in my dream last night.I was on time when I went to the station.I put all my clothes ，cosmetics and some books to read on the train in my bag.I could find them easily.Only one thing I forgot where I put is the ticket!!!I was very upset and said "Sorry " to my friends as they had to wait while I was looking for.....I had very hard time but I couldn’t find the ticket.When I got up，I found I didn’t prepare some rice for breakfast!!!Maybe I was worring about rice not the ticket in my dream.I had to say to my husband "SORRY!!".

Why?
The other day I visited "paltalk" and met a young man from Korea who is very talkative .He asked us "Why do you study English?" I’m very shy in paltalk and I’m always silent there.I was only listening to him. "Do you study English to get a good job? Do you study English to pass an examination? Do you study English to go abroad? " he asked again and again. I asked myself "Why do I study English?" but I can’t find good reasons for it. I LIKE studying ENGLISH!!

Tao
Today I attended the English meeting and heard about Tao(老子）.A member bought books written by Tao for us.I found reading Tao’s messages in English is easier than reading in Japanese as these Japanese style is old fashioned.Tao says "Knowing others is intelligenceknowing yourself is true wisdomMastering others is strengthmastering yourself is true power."”人を知る者は智、自ずから知る者は明。人に勝つ者は力有り、自ずから勝つ者は強し。”

salt
My husband got good salt from his friend.I thought salt is all the same before. After eating dishes with that salt ，I found this salt is very special.Salt has a magic power to change dishes delicious.On TV a cook put salt in a pan and he heated those salt.He told us heated salt is so mild to eat.Actually the salt we used is made in Korea but we can use heated salt instead of expensive salt.I heard special salt is very very expensive.

shopping
I went to a department store yesterday .what I bought were only food. I bough some bread，fish，meat and vegetables. Before I used to walk around to see books and dresses even though I just enjoyed window shopping. Recently I found that I have to throw away all books and dresses which were very xpensive .I brought some books and new dresses to a secondhand shop and I got some hundred yen. After that my interests in books and fashionable clothes disapeared.

snowing.
It was snowing in the morning.I was very glad to see snowing though it was very cold . I took a picture with my cell phone after opening the windows wide. I wanted to make a snowman and wished we would have a lot of snow today. Snowing stopped soon and thawed.I couldn’t see a beautiful white world with snow.

Phonics
Today I got a letter from Apricot which is a company to publish and sell English text books to teachers.Every year Apicot plans work shops for teachers to teach how to use these text books. After reading the letter I ’m very interested in cards and CD with which teachers teach phonics to students.We used to practice phonics saying " a，a，a，apple...b，b，b，bee..."but some students couln’t understand phonics and couldn’t read text books. Students can make words saying phonics if I buy these cards and CD. I have a lot of teaching materials though.lol

Mojikou Station
I used to take a train at Mojikou station to go to Kokura or other big cities. I could see some black steam locomotives there. I didn’t like taking a steam locomotive as I had to close the windows of it when it came to a tunnel. When smoke came into it ，we couldn’t breath well because of bad smell. I also thought Moji station and Kokura sation were very modern and beautiful as they were new. Now I miss black locomotives and old fashioned Mojikou Station very much.This is a picture of Mojiko station.

a lift bridge
This lift bridge is in Mojiko in Kitakyoshu.I lived in Mojikou befor but I couldn’t see this bidge.Now mojikou is very famous for a place with nostalgic buildings. When I was a small girl ，we used to get in a boat to go to Shimonoseki at Moji port.I saw some men selling bananas hitting a board on which there were many bananas from Taiwan around there.We called it "バナナの叩き売り”

New Year lunch party
Today we had a New Year lunch party .We had to speak in English while having lunch.My friends talked and talked about many topics.I was very busy eating lunch ，checking difficult English words they said and writing them in my notebook. So I was very silent for more than 3 hours .I can’t do many things at the same time. Some people can speak in English while eating，cheking words and writing with a smile. I thought members were so talkative and cheerful today. I only talked for about 10 minutes end of that meeting when one member told me " Do you have any topics to speak today?" Should I be more out going? should I insist my opinion more?

English education for children
Yesterday I visited some sites in rakuten where young mothers wrote about their children’s English education.I noticed a lot of young mothers are very interested in English education for their children.My daughter began to study English when she was about 9 years old .I thought she needed to study English before entering a junior high school. At first I could teach her English with her friends but she really hated to learn English with me. She told me "You are not my English teacher!!! You are my mother!!" Now her English level is higher than me. I have to be her student. Maybe she will say to me "You are not my student!! You are my MOTHER!! Please cook delicious dinner for ME!!"

Today I gave my speech. I could say my speech without big mistakes even though I was a bit nervous before it.I had to give my speech in 7 minutes .So I had to speak a bit fast end of my speech. People thought speaking slowly and fast were good for my speech. I used weak voice and loud voice while speaking. It was also good for my speech. It was my sixth speech. giving a speech
Tomorrow I’ll give my speech in English.Yesterday I couldn’t say it without papers. So I tried to memorize it saying it many time. It is very good to say it walking on a road while going shopping . I can say it in a loud voice when I can’t see any people on a road. If someone see me opening my mouth wide and move it strangely，he or she will think I’m a kind of mad people.lol Today it is sunny and I’ll go shopping. I hope there will not be any people while practicing my speech on a road.

cooking
I wrote today’s diary once but I couldn’t see it on my site. Why? I cooked taros，carrot and konnyaku with suger and soy sauce. I sometimes cooked feezed taros as I need not peel them. Fresh taros are dirty and shapes are not the same. I have to cook small ones and big ones together but they are very delicious. I also cooked canned crab meat with some egges. It was a kind of omelet. I put fresh lettuce and cut carrot beside the omelet. Today I cooked vegetables and canned crab meat which my friends gave me. I ate them thinking my friends.

fresh vegetables
My husband’s friend gave him fresh vegetables which he grew . He likes giving fresh vegetables to his friends . Some housewives visit his market garden to have them. After eating those vegetables I understand those housewives a lot. They are so fresh and sweet . We can’t buy such delicious vegetables at supermarkets.He gave my husband some qinggengcai， some taros，a carrot，some lettuce and a white raddish.

A girl from Canada.
Today I tought my students English for the first time this year. At first we were talking about an interview test my students had . Some students told me they couldn’t catch what a native speaker said to them because they met a girl from Canada for the first time.I told them there are so many English in the world and we only study American English at our class or at schools in Japan. I told them about British English， Australian English and English spoken by other countries.

An interview test.
Yesterday my students had an interview test in English. We walked to the station near my house and took a train . There were about 15 students and they were very polite walking along a road or buying tickets at the station. I took care of them while walking a road and waiting in front of an interview room. Some students were very nervous before having a test and they asked me how to answer questions. Some students are very good at writing but they don’t like answering in English. Some students only like listening and answering in English. I teach them the same English at my class but their English level are very different. Some students told me " Having an interview test was very fun. I enjoyed answering questions. " Some students told me " I couldn’t answer questions well." My students have different interests and abilities . I only hope they enjoy studying English even though some students don’t like an interview test.

eigoden
I visited eigoden site and listened to native spekers’ voice . I used to visit the text chat room and didn’t listen to tapes or CDs to study English. Now I found I need more listening to English . I can understand what people want to say in English but I can’t dictate them well. I listened to one in which I can listen to mistakes native speakers did on eigoden site. It was very fun for me to listen to mistakes as I thought native speakers can speak English perfectly everytime. Even native speakers do some mistakes while speaking. A voice chat room
I visited a voice chat room of Global English after a long absence. There were only two students including me. A teacher said to me " I met you here one month ago. How have you been during winter holidays?" I answered "I’ve been very busy cleaning my house and cooking dishes for new year’s days." I used to chat for a long time there but recently I only stayed there for a while. Today I found a teacher and a friend are still very friendly to me . I felt at home there.

A restaurant named "New Western"
I go to a restaurant named "New Western" near my house twice or three time a month after studying English with my friends. Now I wonder which I like better studying English or eating lunch with my friends there. When I study English ，I’m very serious as I have to listen to my friends’spaeking in English and say something in English. When I have lunch ，I’m relaxed and cheerful as I really like eating some sandwiches with salad at New Western. We can eat it at any restaurants but sandwiches at New western is special for me. It is a kind of homemade type sandwiches with beef，tuna or chicken. ohhh...Now I’d like to eat them!!

moemorizing
I have to momorize my speech as soos as possibile. I tried to momorize it this evening around 8:00pm and I wanted to sleep while memorizing. It was midnight，around 11:55pm when I woke up . There were only 5 minutes to write today’s diary.Do I want to sleep when I don’t want to do something?When I go out to meet my friends ，I’m very fine and active. When I go shopping，I’m very excited.When I’m chatting with my good friends，I’m very cheerful.When I have to do a lot of houseworks ，I’m not fine.When I have to do some deskworks，I’m confused.When I meet people in real life ，I’m shy and silent.So some people think I’m not active .Actually I’m sometimes active and sometimes not active.I sometimes can memorize well and sometimes can’t memorize at all.When I was a student I had to memorize a lot before having tests. In those days I could memorize school text books well but I forgot all I memorized after having tests. I had some speeches and I could memorize them well，too. Now I can’t give those speeches without scrips. Is memorizing useless? I don’t think so. I forgot all speeches I momorized but I leared alot while memorizing them. Any way I have to memorize my speech and practice saying it more than 20 times. My friend told me she tries to say her speech more than 100 times.

Now this room is very warm with a heater and a hot carpet...I’m very sleepy now. I don’t know the reason why though. I sometimes go to bed around 1:00am or 2:00am. It is 11:11pm now. oh..11:11!!! Good number!!By the way 11 is a good member ，I think. We Japanese don’t like 9 but in China 9 is a good number.I heard about it when I visited Hong kong.Now 11:14pm. 14 is a bad number. We Japanese hate 4. Before I got a bad number for a phone.4270 ....So I bought a new phone to change a number.

Today I met a native English teacher and my friends .We studied English together. We studies a NHK radio text book and talked about naming.Some people believe our names have bad fortune and good fortune because of kanji and kana strokes.For example ，さくら has 7 strokes which is a good number. 桜 has 10 strokes which is a bad number. Old kanji 桜 has 21 strokes which is a good number. Do you believe name has a good fortune or a bad fortune?Women sometimes change kanji of their names after getting marriage. Some people change their names to be happy or to be famous. Can we change our character or fortune after changing strokes?How about nick names online?I wonder if sakura2100 is a good name or a bad name.How about foreigners’ names?Mary，Meg，Mike，John...Which is a good name?

hearing voice and seeing pictures
I used to chat with my friends in the chat rooms .At first I attended the voice chat room as I didn’t know how to type at that time. I was very surprised to meet people from America， Brazil， England ，France ，Italy ，China， Korea， Taiwan and Japan there. I found we can comunicate in English even though our mother tongues are different. I attended the voice chat room around midnight everyday because there was a native teacher in that room. We could attend the room without fee. Only about 10 people could enter the room and I tried to enter the room as the first student. Hearing a native teacher’s voice and friends’ voice was my good listening practice. One day I tried to enter the text chat room and met a teacher and many friends. I visited the text chat room for a long time a day and asked a teacher some questions about my writing.I thought staying the text chat room was fun . Now I think listening ，speaking ，reading and writing are all important for my English Studying and comunication . When I read my friends’ writing ，I can understad my friends a little .When I hear my friends’ voise ，I can understad my friends more. When I see pictures of my friends ，I imagine my friends clearly.

Meow!! Hi，again.
I like walking around in Sakura’s small garden. Especially sitting under the tree is nice. In summer ground is cool and in winter it is warm. One hot summer day my mother left me alone in front of Sakura’s house as I had an infectious disease. My mother was very afraid that her kittens would have the same desease I had. I couldn’t drink and eat at all.I just sat beside the tree. Sakura found me but she couldn’t have a cat as her pet. She had a dog at that time and her house isn’t big enough to have both a dog and a cat. Trying to feed me outside her house was the only thing she could do for me.Three days passed and it was getting hotter and hotter.I was getting weaker .Sakura’s husband found me and said to Sakura "This cat is miserable!! Why don’t you take this cat to see the vet."I was lucky as it was Saturday and Sakura could take me to the vet. The vet gave me an intravenous drip injection. After having a medical treatment ，I could eat cat’s food. In those days I was very very thin .Now I’m fat and heavy though. I remember those hot days whenever I sit in Sakura’s garden.

I’m shy.....
A Happy New Year from Pocky in Osaka.Sakura named me "Pocky" as my tail is like a chocolate pocky. I have been with Sakura for more than 6 years.I like warm and high places to sit and sleep.So I used to sit beside the window.One day my friend ，a polar bear came to sit there.He is my best friend but I was too shy to sit with him.MEOW!!!!大阪のポッキーから ”あけましておめでとう！！”さくらが ポッキーと名前をつけてくれました.しっぽが チョコポッキーに似（に）ているから.六年以上も さくらと一緒（いっしょ）にいます.高くて暖かいところで座ったり寝たりするのが好きです.だから 窓のそばが いいんです。ある日 友達の 白熊君が 遊びに来て 窓のそばに座りました.とてもいい友達なんだけれど そばに座るのは 恥ずかしいんです.ニャ－！！！！！！！

the shrine near my house
I visited the shrine near my house.On New Year Eve there were many people but there were some people today. Yesterday there were so many cars around the shrine and my daughter couldn’t drive smoothly. Today I saw some cars around there. Maybe people went to other places today. Hatuuri? USJ? Restaurants? After eating Osechi all day long，people want to eat different dishes at restaurants.
