I read this article today."December 25, 2004 Taipei, Taiwan--A French urban climber who calls himself Spiderman climbed to the top of the world's tallest building on Saturday--Taipei 101.Alain Robert, 42, took almost four hours to reach the top of the 1,679-foot building. The climb took him nearly twice as long as he had expected, partly because of dreary weather.Although he's climbed many of the world's tallest structures without the use of a rope, he climbed with one on Saturday, likely because of the wind and rain.He paused to rest every eighth floor and even chatted with the president of Taipei 101 before tackling the final stretch. As dark clouds drifted around the top, Robert climbed onto the roof with a tired smile. "It was very wet ... and there was a strong wind," he said.Robert has also scaled the Eiffel Tower and more than 30 skyscrapers around the world, including New York's Empire State Building in 1994 and the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1997."wooow,A spiderman is 42!!He tried to climb the top of the world's tallest building named Taipei 101 even though weather wasn't good.We have dreams but we sometimes don't want to do anything if the condition is bad.A man aged 42 isn't young enough to be a spiderman in the real life ,is he?He is so brave.

Today I read this article."When it is finished in 2008, the Bank of America Tower in Manhattan will be the most environmentally friendly office building in the world. Its electricity will not come from coal, oil, or gas. It will come from lunch. Yes, that's right--lunch. Food waste will go through a treatment plant--a kind of giant compost heap--and become methane gas. Burning the methane will provide power to generate electricity. The remaining waste will go to a nearby park as compost. The new building will use less than half the energy and water of a typical office building. The 52-story project will utilize recycled construction materials. Lighting will change depending on the amount of sunlight. Waterless urinals will save 3 million gallons of water a year. "We throw a lot of food away in our daily life even though we know it isn't a good habit. Before I tried to eat leftover but I knew it isn't good for my health. It is a really nice for us to know electricity will come from food.2008年に完成予定のマンハッタンのビルでは昼食の残りから電気を起こすシステムを採用するそうです。とてもいいことだと思います。レストランやコンビ二や家庭で捨てられる残飯が電気に変わるなんて考えても見ませんでした。以前は私は残飯係でしたがその必要もなくなります。

Today I read this article."WHO officials happily note there have been no large outbreaks of communicable diseases since the tsunami struck, although sporadic cases of diarrhea and measles have been reported. But they warn the affected countries need stay on alert. Besides monitoring waterborne diseases, the WHO is asking health workers to watch out for outbreaks of dengue fever and malaria in areas where there is stagnant water. The WHO says mental health issues pose a long-term risk. It says survivors of the tsunami are simultaneously in need of psychological and social support. Vijay Chandra, Regional Adviser at the WHO, says a massive effort is needed to help people cope. "We are talking about a huge problem," he stressed. "Every survivor, whether they be injured or not, is in some way psychologically affected. There is a huge increase in anxiety, there is a huge increase in sadness, there is a huge increase in grief reactions, now these have to be dealt with by psychological counseling."Sri Lanka is getting WHO help to train local community residents to reach out to help people cope with their trauma. "Today I watched NHK TV and knew people who had hard time when the Great Hanshin Earthquake are still suffering from bad experience they had.I saw a man who was a teacher and helped many people hearing their painful experience on TV this morning. Now he couldn't move his hands well after having mental problems. "Why?" ,I asked to myself. He did good for people around him but he lost his ability to move his hands and body.

A Happy New Year!!Today I read this one."Rosabeth Moss Kanter is a professor at Harvard Business School. She wrote a book about confidence. Confidence is important for success. Winners have confidence. Winning gives people confidence. That's why winners keep winning, and losers keep losing. She wrote about teams and companies. Some are winners, some are losers, and some are trying to change. The name of her book is Confidence: How Winning and Losing Streaks Begin and End. "This year I'd like to have confidence even though I have many weak points.
