Performance

Those a little disappointed with the performance offered by A5 are typically thrilled after taking her big brother for a spin. The 2013 Audi S5 Coupeis everything you love about A5, but tailored to the performance-minded buyer. S5 says goodbye to the extra-thirsty V8 and welcomes a supercharged 3.0-liter V6. When paired to its standard, smooth-shifting six-speed manual, it reaches 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, thanks to 333 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. For the best fuel economy you will need to go with the automated manual transmission that yields 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. All S5 Coupes get Audi quattro® all-wheel drive that provides torque vectoring to confidently handle changing weather and curvy roads. Due to this feature, you will notice the weight of the vehicle, so although fun to drive like a sports car, it feels more like a touring vehicle. Steering is precise but communicative, and feels slightly muted.

Technology

• Audi Connect™ - This feature provides Wi-Fi connectivity for up to eight devices, and gives you access to Google Earth™, Google Local Search™, and more. It is included in the upgraded navigation system, which also gives you a more user-friendly Multi Media Interface.
• Audio - A standard 10-speaker, CD player, iPod interface, and satellite radio is quite impressive. A 14-speaker 505-watt Bang & Olufsen® is also available.
• Audi Advanced Key - You will not have to dig for your keys to start your engine, or lock and unlock your doors with this feature.

Safety

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not crash-tested the S5 or its A5 sibling, but Audi rarely disappoints in this area. When braking was tested S5 stopped from 60 mph in a respectable 110 feet. Safety conscious consumers will want to make sure to get the Prestige trim. It includes blind-spot monitor and adaptive cruise control. A few noteworthy safety features include:
• Self-leveling headlights
• Tire pressure monitoring
• Electronic brakeforce distribution
• Electronic stability control
• Child seat anchors
• Traction control
• Emergency interior trunk release
• Post-collision safety system
• Dusk sensing headlights
• Remote anti-theft alarm system
• Brake assist
• Turn signal mirror
• Engine immobilizer

Appearance

S5 gets a bit of a facelift for 2013. Its reshaped front fascia and restyled headlights have not compromised its seductive appeal though. Progressive lines, subtle curves, and aerodynamic brilliance are appreciated from every angle. Points of interest include the iconic Singleframe® grille, panoramic tilting sunroof, and quad exhaust outlets.

Comfort

Top-notch materials and thoughtful details are present throughout the cabin, which has come to be expected from Audi. There is ample leg and headroom in the front, but certainly not in the back, making the rear seat only appropriate for children. The front seats are comfortable but those with a long commute may wish for more lateral support. Most will want to add on the optional navigation system simply for the upgraded Multi Media Interface. The standard dash-mounted controller is awkward to use and its menus are confusing, often requiring a number of unnecessary extra steps.

Cargo

Cargo space is generous for a coupe, offering 12.4 cubic feet, and the rear seats fold for a bit more space.
