When it comes to being a unique mode of transportation, the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo wins the class hands down. Though not a crossover or SUV, the Gran Turismo boasts the benefits of one while still maintaining the performance known of BMW sports sedans. It is the distinctive styling in the back that sets this vehicle apart from the standard crowd. A hatchback that can be used in dual modes means that one has the benefit of a trunk that is often found on sports sedans while still allowing for use like an SUV when needed. Though it boasts less space at its maximum than a typical SUV, the extended space makes it entirely unique among sedans. Of course the BMW name also lets buyers know right away that they are going to get a quality vehicle for the money. That is a good thing considering the price tag of the Grand Turismo is quite high and gets even higher the more options that are added.

The minute a buyer steps foot inside the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo they will see the difference between BMW and other sports sedans. A luxurious combination of leather and wood adorn the cabin and make buyers feel like they are riding in the midst of extravagance. Space will never be an issue as the Gran Turismo offers plenty of body and leg room for even the largest of passengers.

Out on the road is where the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo will surely shine. It offers a strong and powerful ride, though drivers will find it less smooth than some other models from the company. There is very little noise in the cabin as drivers take the car on the road and making curves and corners is virtually effortless. Most drivers will be more than satisfied with the handling and performance of the Gran Turismo, but some will find that other models offer more of what they are looking for.

The standard engine on the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo 535i trim is an inline six cylinder that boasts 3.0 liters and 300 horsepower. The 550i trim upgrades to a 4.4 liter 400 horsepower twin turbo V8 engine. There is only one transmission that can be claimed with this vehicle and it an eight speed automatic that boasts a manual shift control. Buyers can take the standard rear wheel drive or choose the optional all wheel drive. Gas mileage is not bad at all with a range of 19mpg city to 28 mpg on the highway. Like many BMWs the Gran Turismo boasts excessive safety features as standard on the vehicle.
