Rolls-Royce had its beginnings in the early 1900s. Henry Royce created the first automobile, the Royce 10, and Charles Rolls agreed to buy and sell each of them. Many years later, the Rolls-Royces were doing so well that the company had acquired another major car label known as the Bentley. Over the years the company would produce many popular cars, including a long list of Rolls-Royce Coupe vehicles. It wasn't until the 70s when the motor division of Rolls-Royce would separate from the parent company of Rolls-Royce Limited.

The separation worked well until 1998 when Rolls-Royce Motors went up for sale. Volkswagen had the winning bid and took over the car brand, but what they did not realize at the time was they were not buying the brand name or logo. Those were sold to BMW and that presented a unique situation. A formal agreement was reached giving Volkswagen the licensing to produce both Bentley and Rolls-Royce Coupe automobiles between the years of 1998 and 2002. After that, BMW would produce the Rolls while Volkswagen would acquire the Bentley.

Since being acquired by BMW, there have been a number of popular Rolls-Royce Coupe vehicles produced and sold worldwide. Currently there are two that are well-known and quite popular with enthusiasts. One is the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe and the other is the Rolls-Royce Coupe. Both are slightly similar in nature, but the Drophead Coupe is actually a convertible model that is still on the market. The only current full hardtop coupe is the Phantom Coupe.

When it comes to the Rolls-Royce Coupe, the Phantom is among one of the most highly regarded to have been produced. Debuted at the 2008 Geneva International Auto Show, this luxury coupe remains popular even now. As evidenced by the name, the Phantom Coupe is modeled on the Rolls-Royce Phantom platform. It features a 5.7 Liter 453hp V12 engine that can take it to speeds of up to 150 mph. It was even featured in the film Johnny English Reborn. The Phantom Coupe is a two door vehicle that offers four seats and plenty of room so that passengers can ride comfortably.

While the platform of this Rolls-Royce Coupe may be modeled after the Phantom, the style is not. Instead it has been designed after the 100EX concept car. This styling includes luxury that is typically not found in an automobile. The interior is spacious and comfortable. There are leather seats and a wood dashboard. The doors swing upward and can be opened and closed with a button inside the cabin. The Phantom Coupe also features a number of technological advancements that are common today.

From its early days on the racing circuit, to today's existence as a luxury automobile, the focus has always been maintained on the Rolls-Royce Coupe. The company has long been known for their production of two door vehicles in both hardtop and convertible form. Over 100 years after their debut, Rolls-Royce is still producing cars that are highly sought after by fans and enthusiasts.
