Henry Royce designed and created his first vehicle in 1904. The Royce 10 was so impressive that when Royce first met Charles Rolls the same year he would agree to purchase any that could be made. The new agreement would label the cars as a Rolls-Royce and could only be sold by Rolls himself. In 1906 the two would form Rolls-Royce Limited and by 1931 they would acquire Bentley. For many years there were only minor differences found between a Bentley and Rolls-Royce. Thought there actually were no differences in car styles at that time, it can be said that the Royce 10 was the first Rolls Royce Sedan.

In actuality, the first Rolls Royce sedan manufactured and sold in any quantity was the Silver Ghost. This was the vehicle that was created between Rolls and Royce and marketed in 1906. The Silver Ghost may not be the first vehicle produced by either Rolls or Royce, but it is widely considered the first Rolls-Royce by fans of the company. Future cars would pay homage to this vehicle through design or name. Though the first car officially offered as a Rolls-Royce, this would not be the last one.

Rolls-Royce Motors would separate from the main company in 1973 and after a series of events would end up for sale. Volkswagen, wanting to invest in the high-end vehicle, acquired the company in 1998. However, the name and logo were controlled elsewhere and were sold to BMW. After much disagreement, a deal was reached giving Volkswagen permission to manufacture and sell the Rolls Royce Sedan between the years 1998 and 2002. After that, BMW could have Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen could have Bentley. It was an agreement that thus far has worked well.

Once the agreement had been finalized the final vehicle produced by Volkswagen had been produced, the reins would turn over to BMW to design and produce the Rolls-Royce line of cars. One of the most popular to be offered is the Rolls Royce sedan known as the RR Ghost. Named in honor of the Silver Ghost from 1906, the Ghost would officially announced in 2009. It was made a little smaller than the Phantom and was made from steel so that it would be sturdier and more impressive. The Ghost comes with a 6.0 liter V12 and 8 speed automatic transmission. It has the power to do 0 to 60 in only 4.7 seconds.
