Dodge Review

Dodge is an American-based automobile brand under the eye of the Chrysler Group. Dodge produces cars, minivans, SUVs, and pickup trucks (which are manufactured and advertised by Chrysler) in over sixty countries and territories across the world. The company was founded in 1900 by two brothers, Horace and John Dodge, and was accordingly named the Dodge Brothers Company. This company aided in the assembly and supply of auto parts for the growing auto industry in Detroit, Michigan. The brothers began producing their own cars in 1915 and, through this, sold the company to the Chrysler Corporation several years later in 1928.

The first Dodge was created in 1914- the 4-cylinder Model 30. It was sold as a slightly more luxurious version of Ford's Model T. It included an all-steel body, a twelve-volt electrical system, and a sliding-gear transmission- all of which were more advanced features than most automobiles of the time featured. The Chrysler company has a close relationship with auto company Fiat, which plans to take many Dodge and other Chrysler brands, and transform them into vehicles that are co-developed with its own company.

Dodge has faced competition from several other brands over the years, especially in the pickup truck genre. Chevy and Ford are its main opponents in this genre, and in other genres as all. Dodge, as an American brand, most often faces off against other American-made models. Although Ram is now its own brand, the Dodge Ram was one of the company's powerhouse sellers. Over the years, the postwar B B Series Dodge Power Ram trucks, the early 50s and 60s Dodge pickups, the 1971 Dodge D100, the 1972 400 V8, and the Dodge D-Series trucks are just a few memorable models the brand produced.

In the realm of sports cars, the Dodge Viper cannot be denied as one of the most famous to ever grace U.S. streets. First displayed as a concept in 1989 at the Detroit International Show, the Viper was everything Dodge's K-Cars at the time were not: sleek, sexy, and incredibly fast. It was an important show car and racecar. The Viper somehow made it into production several years later, thanks, in part, to an amazing line of new Dodge fans, and the first-generation Viper RT/10 Roadster was produced from 1992-1995. It revolutionized the way Dodge vehicles were looked at, and it was an immediate success. The first generation was followed by the Viper FTS Coupe and the Viper RT/10 Roadster in 1996-2002, and then the second-generation Viper SRT-10 from 2003-present.

Current popular Dodge vehicles include the 2011 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab 4 X 4 pickup truck, the 2011 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup truck, the 2012 Dodge Avenger large sedan, the sporty 2012 Dodge Challenger, the luxurious 2012 Dodge Charger, the family-friendly 2012 Dodge Durango, the 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan Minivan, and the sporty 2012 Dodge Journey SUV. Whichever Dodge model you choose to drive, rest assured that its part of an impressive history of iconic vehicles.
