The Ferrari 599 GTO Coupe is 185.4 inches long, 77.2 inches wide, and 52.2 inches high, with a curb weight of 3,528 pounds. The standard high performance tires are 285/30 ZR20 inch in the front, and 315/35 ZR20 inch in the rear. Brakes grip hard with large standard carbon-ceramic rotors and ceramic pads created by Brembo. Under emergency conditions, an anti-lock brake system is ready to jump into action. Pilot Super Sport tires by Michelin are created from an innovative compound that ensures the vehicle sticks to the road.

The Ferrari 599 is available in two trims namely the GTB Fiorano and the higher-performance GTO. The GTO being the higher end version is complete 20" wheels all around, integrated LED shift lights bolstered onto the carbon fiber racing wheel, enhanced suspension and steering, revised damper calibration, active throttle response system, navigation system, rear parking sensors, and pampered in a combination of faux, leather teach fabric and suede.

Oversized shift paddles are attached to the steering column, taking up the space formerly allotted to turn signals and windshield wiper controls. These are now found on the steering wheel itself, which does take some getting used to. Every interior detail is devoted to a luxurious ride, with a top-notch sound system that includes CD and iPod capability.

The key to the incredible driving performance of the Ferrari 599 GTO Coupe is the manettino ("little hand" in Italian). Found right on the steering wheel, the dial offers five driver-operated settings that control stability, shift response, and traction. At the lowest setting, the 599 is ready to ride out inclement weather and one notch up is sport, which increases stability control. Third is race, bringing stability up still further, and reducing shift time to an amazing 60 milliseconds. At the fourth setting, the traction control is turned off and the top setting cancels all electronic assistance.

Some test drivers did notice a bit of understeer, however they found they could correct this through controlled use of the throttle. The interior can be availed in a number of enticing pigments to include beige, blue scuro, Bordeaux, carta da zucchero, charcoal, cioccolato, crema and cuoio. The Ferrari 599 GTO Coupe is extremely accurate when responding to driver commands-a good thing considering the stunning possible speeds. Magnetorheological auto-adjusting shock absorbers guarantee a smooth ride on standard roads. The Ferrari 599 GTO Coupe shows no signs of nervousness to challenging corners and remains poised and composed, with no squealing tires or body roll.
