Used 2011 Ford Ranger Truck Trims & Features

The Ford Ranger Truck has two styles and three trims available. Buyers can choose a regular cab or an extended cab in every trim. The XL, XLT and Sport trim choices each have their own set of features even if none of them are as modern as the competition. The XL has very little to offer with only 15 inch wheels, a hitch for a trailer and a bench seat in the front. The cab is filled with vinyl and boasts no more than simple air conditioning and a stereo with AM/FM stations.

When upgrading the Ford Ranger Truck to the XLT trim, the buyer will receive a few more benefits. There are added foglights, a better trim on the outside and cloth in the cab. It also boasts accessories that are powered, a keyless entry and a steering wheel wrapped in leather. The stereo is upgraded to one that features a CD player and satellite radio. If one chooses the 4X4 version they will move up to alloy wheels, tow hooks and even shock absorbers.

The Sport trim of the Ford Ranger Truck adds in just a little bit more. With this version there are larger wheels, an added spare tire, better shocks and skid plates, sidestep bars and the front of the cab is enhanced with bucket seats and a console. The V6 SuperCab has the option to add shocks as well. Those who select the XLT or Sport trims have optional bedliner and tinted glass with sliding window.

Safety is one area where the Ford Ranger Truck has seen some significant upgrades. There are now antilock brakes all around, stability control and front seat side airbags. Unlike much of the competition, there are no side curtain airbags on any trim.

The obvious lack of features on the Ford Ranger Truck combined with the limited abilities and cramped quarters make it obvious why the competition fares better among consumers. Most find it hard to choose a vehicle that is outdated even when it has the name of a trusted brand. There are far better trucks on the market, especially if the driver plans to haul passengers.
