More Used Maserati Coupe Reviews / All Maserati Cars

Maserati's GranTurismo Sports Coupe offers expert craftsmanship with characteristic, Italian panache. This coupe debuted in 2007 and joins the long line of well-crafted vehicles Maserti has offered over its 100-year history. The sleek design of this 2-door coupe and the V8, 405 horsepower engine ensure a commanding, sporty ride, and drivers can choose from four function modes to get the most out of each drive. The interior of the GranTurismo Sports Coupe can accommodate the driver and three passengers comfortably in the leather, bucket seats - quite a feat for a coupe. While the GranTurismo is more expensive than some of its competitors and lacks the same technological features, this coupe is one of the most arresting vehicles on the road today. It's Italian, after all.

One of the most notable features of the GranTurismo Sports Coupe is the powerfully built engine, enabling this car to accelerate to 60 MPH in 5.2 seconds and reach speeds of 178 MPH. The Maserati is fairly quiet for a coupe, thanks to a wet sump in the lubrication system. The V8 engine is placed just behind the front axle and thus distributes slightly more of the car's weight toward the middle to back end of the car, making for a sturdier ride. Because of the front and rear wishbone suspensions, the GranTurismo Sports Coupe capably navigates curves and bumps in the road. This Maserati's fuel economy is commensurate with other coupes: 13 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway.

Harkening back to the original GranTurismo from the 1940's, the Sport Coupe offers modern amenities with the same eye for detail and craftsmanship characteristic to all Maserati vehicles. Compared to other coupes, the GranTurismo Sport Coupe is on the more expensive end and doesn't perform as well as the Audi R8 or the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. The GranTurismo accommodates four adults comfortably, but it's at the cost of trunk space, which is just 9.2 cubic feet. BMW and Mercedes both offer much less expensive coupes and offer precise, German engineering; however, the Maserati is one of the few coupes that is both athletic and alluring.

To make accelerating to 178 MPH a safer experience, Maserati offers a host of safety features including front and rear seatbelts with pretensioners, stability and traction control, ABS with electronic brake distribution (EBD), bi-xenon headlights, rear parking sensors, front-seat side airbags, and side-curtain airbags. Buyers of the GranTurismo Sports Coupe may choose to add the Skyhook system, which adjusts the dampers to varying road conditions to ensure a much smoother ride.
