The Acura brand is only offering one sports wagon for the year 2012, but what a fantastic option it is! The 2012 Acura TSX sports wagon takes its driver anywhere he/she wants to go in sporty, luxurious fashion. With a starting MSRP of $31,160- mid $30,000s, the trendy TSX is a great choice for individual adventurers or a cross-country-trekking family. Along with its three different trims, including: the base TSX, the TSX Special Edition, and the TSX V6, the TSX sports wagon also comes in a sedan variant. For now, though, we'll focus on the wagon. The base model is luxurious enough (it and the V6 versions haven't changed much since 2011), but the Special Edition model has exterior improvements and suede and red-stitched sporty leather seats and quirky aluminum pedal covers.

Acura first introduced the TSX sports wagon variant in 2012 at the New York International Auto Show. The TSX was Acura's first dive into the compact SUV market. While smaller than bulkier SUV models, it offers lots of cabin space and cargo room (up to60.5 cubic feet). A 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine powers the TSX, while the SportShift five-speed automatic transmission and the paddle shifters attached to the steering wheel allow the sporty wagon to achieve 30 highway miles-per-gallon and 22 miles-per-gallon in the city. Some stand-out features included in the TSX include Bluetooth and iPod integration, a USB port, Vehicle Stability Assist, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, but its optional features are much more impressive and include a rear-view camera and weather and traffic updates through a voice-activated navigation system. The cabin's materials luxurious and well-made and the seats are roomy and comfortable. The center console is full of technology features that might take drivers a few tries to learn- but are very navigable and won't take long to learn. The exterior of the vehicle is not the most stylish we've ever seen, but it works well with the wagon's overall practical features. In review, the TSX is extremely well-constructed and comfortable for drivers and passengers.

One of the biggest competitors for the Acura TSX wagon is the BMW 3-Series wagon. Although this vehicle might have more performance options, it does hold less cargo, have less cabin space, and cost more than the TSX. Other competitors for the wagon include the 2011 Audi A4 Avant, the 2012 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon, and the 2012 Honda Crosstour. All of these models have their selling points, but we have to say that the Acura TSX certainly holds its own against the competition due to the fact that it can hold an SUV worth of stuff while maintaining excellent fuel economy- at an affordable price. It offers practical styling within a useful package that's good for every day family driving or commuting to and from work. We do wish, however, that the TSX was equipped with an all-wheel-drive feature for more off-road excursions. All-in-all, the Acura TSX can give the popular Acura RL and TL sedans a run for their money.
