Citroen Wagon Reviews

The French-based auto manufacturing brand Citroen is a part of the Citreon Group and dates back to the year 1919 when the company was established by Andre-Gustave Citroen. As the first mass production auto company outside of the United States, Citroen became known for creating and establishing new technologies and breaking conventions with its vehicles. The company continues this reputation to this day with its groundbreaking automobiles. From the 1969 Citroen DS Wagon to the wagons of today, the brand is known for crafting quality vehicles. Though Citroen hasn't always been known for its Wagons, the 2012 wagon variant of the Citroen C5 is certainly appealing to the public at this time.

The first generation Citroen C5 made its way into production as an estate (station wagon) or 5-door hatchback model from 2001-2008. It wasn't until the second (and current) generation that the C5 wagon was given the label of "Tourer." It underwent a huge facelift in the 2004 year, one which some Citroen fans didn't appreciate because of its inherent "German-like" styling. For the 2012 year, the C5 is the only true "wagon" in the Citroen line, but its sleek design is sure to garner some second glances, nonetheless. The Citreon C5 has a starting price ranging between about $46,990 - $72,990, dependent on trim, of which there are two: Comfort and Exclusive. The C5 comes with a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine that produces 440 Nm of torque and 150 kW. These numbers don't seem very "sporty," (and trust us, they aren't) but the C5 wagon isn't built for speed. The C5 reaches 100 km/h in around 13-14 seconds.

The new C5 wagon comes standard with Citroen's hydro-pneumatic suspension and is more elegantly equipped than its predecessor. In fact, it can now more confidently compete with such luxury models as the BMW 3- Series. Safety features are also plentiful and include several airbags, advanced safety braking, a lane departure warning system, a solid body structure, enhanced safety headlights, intelligent traction control, and a tire-pressure monitor. Citroen vehicles have always been known for their spacious and luxurious cabins, and the C5 Tourer/wagon is no different. A fixed-hug steering wheel and great ergonomics are just some of the highlights of the C5's interior, while the exterior looks nothing short of sleek and distinctive with its alloy wheels and distinctive details.

The C5 Tourer wagon competes with such vehicles as the Audi A4, the Mercedes-Benz C220, the GMW 323i, and internally with the Peugeot 407. It's intended, primarily, to compete against German vehicles, and could do well due to its new, sleeker styling. Ride quality is a little stiff, however; don't expect it to ride as well as a BMW. If you're looking for a vehicle that provides sleek styling, excellent safety, comfort, and technology features, however, this is the wagon for you. For 2012, the C5 Tourer comes in three trim levels: the Exclusive trim, the VTR-NAV trim, and the VTR trim. Whatever you're looking for, there's a Tourer for you.
