- Carlos Zambrano had complained of a sore arm and had 11 days off before throwing his no-hitter.

- Mills' no-hitter was the second of two thrown by a Chicago pitcher in 2020 (Lucas Giolito vs. Pirates on August 25, 2020 at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago). Despite the Cubs having played since 1876 and the White Sox since 1901, it was the first time that both the Cubs and White Sox recorded a no-hitter in the same season.
- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mills' and Giolito's no-hitters were thrown with no fans in the stands.
- The last two no-hitters to feature a double-digit win were thrown by Cubs (Jake Arrieta vs. Reds on April 21, 2016 at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati).
- Catcher Victor Caratini caught Mills' no-hitter in only his 102nd career start behind the plate.
- Caratini is one of 10 modern-era no-hit catchers who also made at least one pitching appearance in his career (2018, 2019: 4 G, 4 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 9.00 ERA).
- When Brewers shortstop Orlando Arcia took the mound in the top of the ninth in a 10-0 game, he became the first position player to pitch in a no-hitter.
