Did You Know?
- This is the only no-hitter thrown by a French-born player to date and the first to be pitched at Olympic Stadium.
- Lea ran into trouble in the top of the 8th when he walked Darrell Evans and Larry Herndon to start the inning, then walked Dave Bergman later in the inning, but a double play grounder and fly out kept the Giants from scoring, and Lea set the final three batters down in order in the ninth to secure his no-hitter.
- Giants manager Frank Robinson complained to umpires after Lea kept nervously bouncing the ball off the mound and was allegedly scuffing it.
- After Expos third baseman Tim Wallach homered against Ed Whitson in the bottom of the seventh to break a scoreless tie, Giants reliever Gary Lavelle plunked Wallach with a pitch in the bottom of the 8th because the Giants thought Wallach was too excited after homering.
- Lea had only thrown 11 innings prior to this start and allowed 16 hits in five appearances, three as a reliever.
