Time of Game: 2:28
Did You Know?
  • Hunter's perfect game was thrown in the stadium's 11th game, making it the soonest after a ballpark opened that a no-hitter was thrown, and he was the first A's pitcher to throw a no-hitter since Bill McCahan held the Senators hitless on September 3, 1947 at Shibe Park in Philadelphia.
  • This was the first regular season perfect game thrown in the American League since Charlie Robertson hurled one for the White Sox on April 30, 1922 against the Tigers at Navin Field in Detroit and it earned Hunter a $5,000 bonus.
  • The attendance of 6,298 is the lowest of the modern era to witness a perfect game.
  • Hunter went 3 for 4 with a double and drove in three of the A's four runs.
  • This was the second of two no-hitters caught by Jim Pagliaroni (Bill Monbouquette vs. White Sox on August 1, 1962 at Comiskey Park I in Chicago).

  • Harmon Killebrew drew a walk with two outs in the fourth and was the only Twin to reach base.
  • At 21 years and 55 days old, Blue was the youngest pitcher to throw a no-hitter since Earl Hamilton held the Tigers hitless on August 30, 1912 at Tiger Stadium when he was 21 years and 43 days old.
  • Blue tossed a one-hitter on September 11 and was a Pat Kelly eighth-inning single from throwing two no-hitters in 10 days.
  • Catcher Gene Tenace was starting only his 32nd major league game and this was the first of two no-hitters he caught (Combined with Ray Fosse vs. Angels on September 28, 1975 at Oakland-Alameda County Stadium in Oakland).

  • In his first 12 appearances with the Rangers, Bibby pitched to a 2.21 ERA and among his wins were a one-hitter and two-hitter before he tossed his no-hitter.
  • After watching Bibby's no-hitter, Texas Rangers owner Bob Short gave Bibby a $5,000 raise.
  • Bibby's career was interrupted from 1966-1967 when he served two years in Vietnam as a truck driver, making him the only no-hit pitcher to have served in Vietnam.

  • It was the last game of the season and Vida Blue was scheduled to go only five innings as a tune-up for the ALCS against the Red Sox.
  • This was the second of two no-hitters caught by Gene Tenace, although he finished the game at first base (Vida Blue vs. Twins at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum).
  • Tenace started behind the plate but was moved to first base in the top of the seventh inning and Ray Fosse became the A's new catcher.
  • It was the fifth and last time through 2019 a catcher didn?t complete a no-hitter he started and is one of five times the starting catcher was either replaced or moved to another position (Walt Tragesser/Hank Gowdy vs. Pirates on June 16, 1916 at Braves Field in Boston; Pinch Thomas/Sam Agnew vs. Senators on June 23, 1917 at Fenway park in Boston; Andy Etchebarren/Larry Haney vs. Tigers on April 30, 1967 at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore; Bill Heath/Gene Oliver vs. Braves on August 19, 1969 at Wrigley Field in Chicago).
  • Reggie Jackson homered twice to raise his total to 36 and tied George Scott for the American League home run title, Jackson's second of four (1973, 1975, 1980, 1982).
  • Among relievers who pitched in a combined no-hitter, Rollie Fingers' 10 wins in 1975 are the most.

  • This was the fourth time two or more pitchers contributed to a no-hitter.
  • Blue Moon Odom walked nine of the 22 batters he faced and his 16.2 walks per 9 innings is the worst among all modern-era no-hit starters.
  • The 11 walks Odom and Barrios issued are the most in a combined no-hitter.
  • The game was tied 1-1 before Jim Spencer hit a solo homer in the sixth to drive in the eventual game-winning run.
  • This no-hitter came in Odom's second start and fifth appearance with the White Sox after he was traded by the Braves on June 15.
  • He would make only two more starts and one relief appearance in his big league career and finished by allowing 17 hits and 12 earned runs in his final 11 2/3 innings.
  • Among no-hit pitchers, Odom's 63 ERA+ in 1976 is the worst and his 1.8214 WHIP is second worst behind Bobo Holloman's 1.8215 in 1953.

  • This was the second no-hitter in major league history to which four pitchers contributed (Athletics vs. Angels on September 28, 1975 at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum).
  • Orioles starter Bob Milacki was pulled from the game after six innings after suffering a hand injury when he stopped a Willie Wilson line shot up the middle with his pitching hand and leg, which caused the ball to ricochet to first baseman Randy Milligan, who stepped on the bag for the out.
  • Milacki walked Dave Henderson, then fanned Jose Canseco to keep the no-hitter intact, but Orioles management thought it best that he come out of the game due to tingling in his fingers.

  • This was the first of two perfect games thrown in 2010 (Roy Halladay vs. Marlins on May 29, 2010 at Pro Player Stadium in Miami).
  • It was the first time since 1880 that two perfect games were thrown in the same season (Lee Richmond vs. Cleveland Blues on June 12, 1880 at Agricultural County Fairgrounds I in Worcester; Monte Ward vs. Buffalo Bisons on June 17, 1880 at Messer Street Grounds in Providence).

Did You Know?
  • This was the second of two career no-hitters thrown by Mike Fiers (vs. Dodgers on August 21, 2015 at Minute Maid Park in Houston) and is considered by many to be the 300th in MLB history, but it depends on which camp you're in--those who recognize Joe Borden's National Association no-hitter in 1875 as the first (vs. Chicago White Stockings on July 28, 1875 at Jefferson Street Grounds in Philadelphia) or those who recognize George Bradley's National League no-hitter in 1876 as the first (vs. Hartford Dark Blues on July 15, 1876 at Grand Avenue Park in St. Louis).
  • Major League Baseball's Special Baseball Records Committee (SBRC) ruled in 1968-1969 that the National Association would no longer be recognized as a major league, although it's still recognized as the first professional baseball league.
  • The reported attendance of 11,794 was the smallest crowd to see a no-hitter since September 11, 1999 when Minnesota's Eric Milton threw a no-hitter against the Angels at Hubert H. Humphry Metrodome in Minneapolis in front of 11,222 attendees.
  • Among pitchers where pitch counts are known, Mike Fiers is the only one to throw 130 pitches or more in both of his no-hitters.
  • Through 2020, Fiers has only two career complete games and is the only pitcher in MLB history to record no-hitters in his first two complete games.
  • Fiers? 6.81 season ERA entering the game is the highest for any pitcher at the time of his no-hitter--with a minimum of 25 innings--since ERA became an official statistic in 1913.
  • The no-hitter was almost broken up twice in consecutive at-bats in the sixth inning, but second baseman Jurickson Profar made a diving catch in short right field to rob Kyle Farmer of a hit, then center fielder Ramon Laureano robbed Joey Votto of a home run to end the inning and preserve the no-hitter.
  • This was the first of two no-hitters caught by Tucker Barnhart (Wade Miley vs. Indians on May 7, 2021 at Progressive Field in Cleveland).

Time of Game: 2:30
Did You Know?
  • Domingo German's perfect game was the 24th in MLB history.
  • German is the fourth Yankees pitcher to throw a perfect game (Don Larsen vs. Dodgers on 10/8/1956 at Yankee Stadium in New York; David Wells vs. Twins on 5/17/1998 at Yankee Stadium; David Cone vs. Expos on 7/18/1999 at Yankee Stadium), breaking a tie with the Chicago White Sox for most perfect games thrown by a team.
  • German's perfect game was the first by a Yankee not thrown at Yankee Stadium.
  • Prior to this start, German had made 84 starts in 106 appearances but had never thrown a complete game or a shutout.
  • German used his curveball to record 20 of 27 outs.
  • He is the first Dominican-born pitcher to throw a perfect game and only the third born outside of the United States (Dennis Martinez, Nicaragua, vs. Dodgers on 7/28/1991 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles; Felix Hernandez, Venezuela, vs. Rays on 8/15/2012 at Safeco Field in Seattle).
  • German reached a three-ball count only twice--Ryan Noda went to 3-2 before striking out swinging in the bottom of the fourth and Jonah Bride went to 3-2 before grounding out to third on the seventh pitch in the bottom of the eighth.
  • In his previous start, German lasted only 3 1/3 innings and allowed 10 runs--8 earned--on eight hits and two walks, and surrendered four home runs to 23 batters faced.
  • This was the 12th no-hitter thrown at Oakland Coliseum, breaking a tie with Yankee Stadium (11). Only Fenway Park (14) and Dodger Stadium (13) have hosted more.
  • The 11 runs scored by the Yankees broke the record for most runs scored in a perfect game (10 by the Giants in Matt Cain's perfect game vs. the Astros on 6/13/2012 at AT&T Park in San Francisco)
  • Of the 18 balls the A's put in play, only three were hit hard and first baseman Anthony Rizzo helped preserve the perfect game with a diving backhanded stop of a hard grounder by Seth Brown in the bottom of the fifth inning.
