Tuesday night, Dave Brust’s Webster Yankees needed eleven innings to dispatch a resilient Brockport Riverbat squad, 6-5 in New York Collegiate Baseball League action. Ollie Bertrand (Monroe CC) made the most of an elventh-inning walk as the pinstripes rebounded after their stellar defense abandoned them for one inning.Â

Brian Pullyblank (Southern Illinois) forgot his cleats for Friday night’s New York Collegiate Baseball League game. The right-hander certainly remembered his pitching. Pullyblank went the distance and held the Niagara Power without a hit as the Webster Yankees won in a walk-off style, 1-0.

At least for one night Dave Brust’s Webster Yankees proved good as advertised. After weeks, even months, of speculation about the strength of the 2009 lineup, the pinstripes christened their new home with a come-from-behind 4-2 victory over the Elmira Pioneers, Tuesday night.

Urckfitz Ready For Spring Training

Pat Urckfitz has his bags packed. On February 25th the former Webster Yankee will head to Kissimmee, Florida for Spring Training with the Houston Astros. When camp opens two days later Urckfitz will begin the second of a seven-year contract.
