Webster opens playoffs with a win

SCIO, N.Y. – Four years have passed since the Webster Yankees appeared in the NYCBL post-season. Dave Brust’s Webster Yankees showed no signs of rust.

Webster sweeps Elmira

WEBSTER, N.Y. – Superman had kryptonite. Sampson had his hair. Apparently, the Elmira Pioneers have “The Basket.” The NYCBL West division leading Pioneers came to Webster riding a seven-game winning streak. The Pios left with a pair of losses.

Webster Shocks Elmira

(Webster, N.Y) For eight innings the Webster Yankees toiled with little to show for their efforts. The home nine threatened but failed to bring home any runs while the Elmira Pioneers grabbed a seven-run lead.  Elmira pitchers dominated Webster for eight frames recording 13 strike outs.
