71, of Eureka Springs passed July 8, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers after a brief illness. Danny was born July 21, 1950 in Port Arthur, Tex. and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Preceeded in death are his parents. Father, Louis and mother, Christine and one brother, Lincoln.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary and Helen; a brother and his wife, Jeff and Loreli; and a sister-in-law, Dorrie; God-son, Art and numerous nieces and nephews, life long friends, David Cunningham and Jeanne Daines Cunningham and loving partner of 32 years, Bill White. Known for his kindness, his smile, and his laugh, he will be dearly missed by a number of long time close friends and extended family. Cremation under the direction of Nelson Funeral Services.  Mrs. Coleman was born in Shreveport, La. and was a life long resident of Port Arthur. She was a member of the Solid Rock Baptist Church and a 1968 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, 11:00am at the Solid Rock Baptist Church with Samuel Joseph officiating. Burial will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery. 56, known to his life-long friends as C.J., passed away May 23, 2006 at his home in Austin , Texas . Antone was noted as founder of the internationally known nightclub, Antone's, best known as Austin 's Home of the Blues. 
Clifford was born October 27, 1949 at St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur , Texas , middle child of Jamal and Georgette Antone, also of Port Arthur . His immediate living family includes sisters Susan Antone and Janelle Antone Raad, and niece Georgette Raad, 13, and nephew Jamal Raad, 6. He leaves behind an uncle and two aunts along with many cousins, and a large extended family of fine friends. Antone graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur in 1968 and relocated in the late Sixties to Austin , where he attended the University of Texas . Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, grandmothers Pauline Ashy and Jamilee Antone, grandfather Elias Antone, his loving aunts Onnie Hyslop and Gloria Farha, uncles K.E. Antone, J.E. Antone, and Fred Ashy, and cousins Craig Ashy and Will Farha. Karla Ann Arnsberg 2/19/50 - 9/12/15

Karla passed away on September 12, 2015 at the age of 65. Karla graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Port Arthur, TX in 1968 and graduated from University of Texas in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Karla was employed with San Antonio Independent School District for 17 1/2 years as a Physical Therapist. She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Gideons Auxillary, and a volunteer for Special Olympics. Karla also worked part-time for the Baptist Hospital System as a Physical Therapist. In 1975 she married the love of her life Gordon Burge. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Universal City Church, where she taught Pre-K for the First Baptist Academy. Karla had many hobbies, sewing, arts and crafts fairs, cake decorating, and traveling. She loved to travel and spent her summers visiting her grandsons wherever they were stationed. Karla is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Gordon Burge, Converse, TX.; daughters, Stephanie A. Layug and husband, Joselito, Fort Polk, LA, Jessica E. Burge, Converse, TX; grandchildren, Nathaniel Layug and Zachary Layug, both of Fort Polk, LA. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 5:00PM – 9:00PM at Schertz Funeral Home. Robert Allen Baldridge 9/18/49 - 3/9/26

known as Allen, born September 18, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas, died peacefully at his home in Hideaway on Monday, March 9th, 2026, at the age of 76. Allen is survived by his wife Wanda, his son Ryan (Stacey), and three grandsons, Corbin, Everett, and Shaun. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maxine B. Quick, his father, Robert Powers Baldridge, as well as two brothers, Raymond Lee Baldridge and Ronald Gene Quick.
From the humblest of childhoods growing up in a blue-collar Southeast Texas family to “living the dream” for 20 years in the East Texas community of Hide-A-Way-Lake, Allen fashioned an enviable tapestry of life experiences. On the beaches of Hawaii, through the trails of the Appalachians, and along every golf course he could find, Allen perfected the craft of “Go early, stay late, and have fun.” The winds of career, life, and occasionally sheer spontaneity, led Allen and family around points of the entire North American Continent too numerous to even list, but always bringing them back to their roots in Texas. After receiving an Industrial Engineering Degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, he worked in the business world for over thirty years. Though most would guess traversing the links to be Allen’s favorite pastime, no surprise will come to learn the real substance of his makeup came from the indelible traces his passion and charisma left behind on the hearts of his many cherished friends.
Honoring his wishes, Allen’s body was donated to medical science through UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. No formal services will be held, and his loved ones will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Adiós, Compadre.

Michael Roy Barbay 5/20/50 - 6/10/25

75, of Crosby, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on June 10, 2025. He was born on May 22, 1950, in Port Arthur, Texas to Ruth and Roy L. Barbay Sr.
Truly one of a kind, he was unique in spirit and expression. He embraced frugality and the simple life, not out of necessity, but out of a belief that true wealth lay elsewhere. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School, he attended Lamar University. While attending college, he met Susan Allen, later marrying and being blessed with three children: a daughter, Courtney, and sons, Thomas and David. After graduating, Michael began a career serving in different capacities at Chemical facilities in Beaumont, El Paso, Corpus Christi and in Houston before finding a change of pace as a Marine Construction Safety Officer. Throughout his life, he took pleasure in spending time at the beach catching redfish alongside his dogs and making memories with his kids, family, and friends. Michael was known for his candid honesty and always kept things lively and entertaining in both easy and tough times. He lived life to the fullest and loved to indulge in the finer things in life like feasting on raw oysters while enjoying a fine wine. As he journeys on, he will be deeply missed and remembered forever.
Left to honor his memory is his daughter Courtney Casterline, and husband, Les, of Corpus Christi, Texas; sons, David Barbay, and wife, Shelley, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Thomas Barbay, and wife, Jessica, of La Plata, Maryland; 4 grandchildren, Laney, Aiden, Benjamin and William, whom lovingly knew him as "Grandpa Snoot"; sister Beverly LaFleur and husband, John, of Nederland, Texas; brother-in-law, W.J. Jerry Betts 5/20/50 - 2/8/21

a.k.a Mouse, was born in Atchison, Kansas, on May 30,1950, to Gladys and Alfonzo Betts. He was raised in Port Arthur, Texas, where he developed a love for surfing and salt water at Crystal Beach and Galveston Island.
He loved working on cars, and just having a great time running around with his close friends who are here with us today. Jerry and his buddies spent a good amount of time driving up and down Gulf Way Drive also known as the “drag”, including cruising in Gary Staton’s dune buggy!
While in high school and with his father’s help and leadership, Jerry earned the rank of Eagle Scout. His first job was at the Burger Chef, and he gave his mother his paycheck to help pay bills. His dedication to earning and paying his way permeated his entire life. He was a hard worker who never took anything for granted.
In February of 1970 his number was called to join the army. He enrolled in the airborne school out of Georgia and later joined the National Guard Airborne Infantry division and served 6 years. He was deathly afraid of heights but as part of the airborne division he had to face this fear and conquer it. He was very proud of overcoming this fear in order to serve his country.
Jerry later moved to Houston where he had one daughter, Gretchen, on May 11, 1976. He later met Kim, the love of his life, who he’s spent the last 17 years with. Jerry is also survived by his three grandchildren: Geoffrey, Corbin, and Zach. He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa, who made a huge impact on all of their lives.
Jerry also made a huge mark on many thousands of people in his work as a talented civil engineer. He designed and oversaw construction of schools, apartments, and football fields to name a few. He was trusted in his industry to get the job done right. His advice to anyone wanting to get ahead in business was, “Silence is golden. Shut up and get rich!”
Throughout his life he has always been a jokester with a mischievous personality. Jerry made others laugh, he was always looking for that cold beer and just enjoying life to the fullest with his close friends. Jerry loved catching the big fish, and always would lend a helping hand to others in the same pursuit. He had a huge playlist of music, and if there was one song that described Jerry’s spirit and approach to life, it would be Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf. There was always the smell of smoke from the pit and his music playing in the background at every social gathering and party.
He left an indelible mark on everyone he met, and he will be dearly missed by all. His spirit lives on in all of those he touched, and will never be forgotten. To honor Jerry’s life, a tree and garden will be planted in his place of retirement, Sargent, Texas.
What we know is Jerry would ask you to grab a cold one, throw some ribs on the grill, crank up the music, enjoy life, and keep it between the ditches!

Randy Blanchard 11/13/49 - 3/18/23

73, passed away in Port Arthur, Texas on March 18, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born to Anthony “Tony” and Marie Blanchard on November 13, 1949 in Port Arthur. He is survived by nieces Michelle Hebert, MD of Huntsville, Texas and Joyce Bonner of Leander, Texas and nephews Darren and wife Lori Hebert of Bellville, Texas and Matthew Blanchard, wife Jessica and daughters Maddie, Lillie and Isabelle of Cedar Park, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Hebert and brother, Terry Blanchard. Randy graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Port Arthur, Texas in 1968 and enlisted in the Air Force. Following tours of duty in Vietnam and Thailand, he was honorably discharged in 1972 as a sergeant then served 2 years in the Air Force Reserves.
Following his military service, he worked as a draftsman for various companies in the area for many years. Randy was dearly loved by his family and friends, who will miss his infectious smile and fun-loving personality. He was a life-long football fan and dearly loved the Dallas Cowboys.
He was an avid fisherman and loved to take his boat out fishing on Sabine Lake. A rosary followed by visitation will be held on Friday March 31 at 6 pm and a funeral service will be conducted on Saturday April 1 at 10 a.m. Both services will be conducted at Grammier Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur, Texas. Interment will occur at a later date at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully and gratefully requests that donations be made in his name to the charity of your choice.

74, of, Port Neches, Texas passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, at Forever Young Home in Groves. Josie was born June 30, 1948 in Bonita, Louisiana to Nick and Mammie Bordonaro.
Josie was a parishioner of St. Therese The Little Flower Catholic Church and was an active member of the Altar Society and St. Christopher’s Kaycetts #3195. She loved sewing and was a fantastic seamstress. She enjoyed playing BINGO and had a love for animals. Josie retired as a Certified Nurse's Assistant after several years in the medical field. Josie’s love for animals, dedication and compassionate heart as a caregiver will be greatly missed.
Josie was preceded in death by her parents, Nick Bordonaro and Mammie (Martin) Bordonaro; brothers, Joe Bordonaro and Nick Bordonaro; sisters, Vita Bordonaro, Rose Bordonaro, Mary Ann Bordonaro, Sally Ann Bordonaro and Francis Morrell; son-in-law, Eugene Davis and grandson, Khayman Davis. Richard (Rick) Eugene Bradley 2/21/50 - 12/14/23

went home to be with his Lord on December 14, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was much loved by his family and friends.
Rick was born in Port Arthur, Texas on February 21, 1950 to Charles and Thais Bradley. His favorite childhood memories were at the family’s Cow Creek Camp. He met the love of his life, Gloria, in the 8th grade and married her in 1972. Rick and his brother, Glynn, worked in the family barber shop until he enlisted in the Army and served his country for 2 terms in the Vietnam War on the front lines as a dog handler. He joined the Coast Guard, after returning from the war, and had a 30 year career retiring as a Warrant Officer 4. He was honored with the Defense Service Medal with One Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Secretary’s Outstanding Unit Award, Coast Guard Sea Service Ribbon, Coast Guard Expert Pistol Ribbon, and Coast Guard Expert Rifle Ribbon. As part of the military, Rick and his family moved from Port Arthur, TX to Petaluma, CA to New Haven, CT to Harlingen, TX to Anchorage, AK to Topeka, KS to Port Angeles, WA to Mustang, OK to Washington DC and finally back to Mustang, OK where he eventually retired in 2001. All the moving taught him and his family, that family doesn’t have anything to do with your last name or the blood in your veins but everything to do with who you chose to love and how you love them.
Rick loved adventures: on any given day he could be found on a motorcycle, pedaling a recumbent bike, shooting at the gun range, kayaking, hunting, cross country skiing, fishing, fly tying, golfing, gardening, and watching Fox News to name a few. Rick loved being part of a group. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders with his wife and together they won Oklahoma’s Couple of the Year in 2003-2004. He was also an active member of the Oklahoma Bicycle Society and pedaled 100 miles in 100 degree heat in Texas’ Hotter’N Hell Hundred.
He served his Lord and Savior faithfully through the years. He was a member of various churches at each duty station, but most recently a member at The Bridge Church in Mustang, OK with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He served as a Royal Ranger Commander for many years taking snow camping trips, tying knots, and making snake bread. Rick and Gloria loved volunteering in Loaves and Fishes together; they would routinely make 5am stops at the local grocery stores to pick up donations.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria, brother, Glynn Bradley, sister, Lynda Huebel and husband Mike, daughter, Wendy Grisham and husband Shawn, and daughter, Misty Sheriff and husband JEB. Along with four grandchildren, Blake, Trey, Anabelle, and Vivienne. He loved his God, his family and his country with ALL of his heart!

Lizbeth Libby Branick 7/14/50 - 2/24/18

was welcomed to heaven by her Savior when she passed from a blood clot in the lung on Saturday morning February 24, 2018.
She joyously accepted Christ as her Savior in her 20’s and gracefully served him as a member of Central Baptist Church in Port Arthur. Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and nursery worker, she was a “meeter of needs” whenever called upon. She attended Bible Study Fellowship for many years and was a former children’s leader in the Beaumont class. Libby had been employed as a legal secretary at Provost Umphrey Law Firm for 34 years. 
She is survived by her Mom, Virgie Branick; Dad, Bruce Branick; sister, Laura Branick; sister, LeeDell Poole and her husband, Bob; Brothers, Jesse Branick and his wife, JoLynn, Jeff Branick and his wife, Sherrie; Aunt, Donnie Beckcom; Aunt and Uncle, Edel and Clyde Caughlin; Nieces, Jeslyn and Jena Branick, Merritt Branick James and her husband, Taylor, Ellie Grace Branick, Joanna Duncan and her husband, Rick; Great niece, Kate Duncan; Great Nephews, Sam Duncan and Jackson James, and several much loved cousins.

a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and, departed this life on January 10, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 74. Born on July 7, 1950, Paul lived a life marked by commitment, service, and love for his family.
For 35 years, he dedicated himself as an Instrument Technician at Exxon Mobil, establishing a reputation for excellence and professionalism in his field. His work ethic and unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
A message from Denise: This morning, I lost the one true love of my life, my anchor, my compass, the one who called me "Angel" when he was the Angel sent to me on September of 1990 at a Youth Ministry gathering at the Holy Family Retreat Center. Three months late, we discovered that we shared the same birthday - sealed in Heaven, we would share another anniversary: our marriage in August 1991. This man that God placed in my life was a faithful Servant, humble and loved by many at St. Mary & St. Martin de Porres and the Diocese of Beaumont, Youth Ministry. He was a loving and devoted husband - supporting everything I did even when it meant cooking dinners on choir practice nights, doing the laundry (and shrinking sweaters), morning coffee in bed before he left for work. He was a good father - passing his virtues down to our son, teaching by example, taking time out for Boy Scout camping and Little League games. He was so proud and honored to pin Kevin's badge on him when he graduated at Austin-Travis EMT. And his beautiful grandchildren fulfilled his life. He reflected on all these and said he lived a good life. And, now he was ready to take the journey to his Heavenly home. May the angels and saints welcome him home. Sleep in heavenly peace, my sweet Paul. One day, I will be beside you again.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Denise Guyote Broussard, who stood by his side through the joys and challenges of life. Together, they raised a son, Kevin Broussard, who is married to Lindsay, and who continues to honor his father's legacy. Paul was a proud grandfather, leaving behind two grandchildren, Ellie Broussard and Jude Broussard, who brought immense joy to his life.
In addition to his immediate family, Paul is survived by his dear mother-in-law, Jeanette Guyote, and a close-knit family that includes his brother, James Wilford Broussard, and sister, Linda Jane Desormeaux. He is further remembered by his sisters- and brothers-in-law, Theresa Luciano (Rick), June Rudd, Erich Guyote (Gena), and Bruce Guyote (April), along with several nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Vivian Broussard, his father-in-law, Stuart Guyote and brother-in-law Edwin Guyote. Their memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

born August 19,1950 in Lafayette, LA to Eddie and Bessie Broussard entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning, February 21, 2023 at Kindred Hospital in Houston, TX. She was a resident of Houston, TX for 52 years.
Susan grew up in a very loving and caring home attending Sacred Heart Catholic School until its closure in 1966. She was a member of the Thomas Jefferson High School graduating Class of 1968.
After graduating from Chenier Business College in Beaumont, TX she moved to Houston, TX at the age of 21. She first worked at Standard Savings and Loan then at Houston-Galveston Diocese. Four years after moving to Houston, TX she married Bertrand Greig on June 21,1975.
Susan was a devoted wife to her husband Bertrand for 47 years. She was a caring mother to her only son Jamal Greig. She was always there for her family in times of need. She selflessly cared for her parents until their passing.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Edward Broussard and Bessie Ozenne Broussard.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband Bertrand, her son Jamal of Houston, TX, three siblings Eddie David Broussard (Vernon) of Houston, TX, Rodney James Broussard (Brenda) of Port Arthur, TX and Tammie Broussard Rose (Carby) of Port Arthur, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was an area resident and lifelong member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, but was part of the Hill Country since she was a child. She was a rancher and second generation owner of Burton Shipyard. An avid horse lover, and competed in many horse shows in her youth. She and her husband were brought together by horses. She wanted to be known for her extraordinary Axis deer. She was a lifetime member of the Exotic Wildlife Association and she loved to travel. Some of her better memories were of her time spent in Mexico. Survivors include her loving husband of 34 years, Jesse Wheeler of Harper, TX; loving daughter, Anna Wheeler of Bridge City, TX; loving son, Daniel Wheeler of Bridge City, TX; loving step-son, Lee Wheeler and wife, Millette of Lumberton, TX; her loving brother, Carl Burton and wife, Linda of Junction, TX; two loving grandchildren, Jake Wheeler and Cole Wheeler; her special friends , cats Spookie and Beadie and her bird, Buddy.

Byrd, Jr. She is survived by her mother, Mary E. Myles passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 in Kingwood. He was born on August 23, 1950 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late, James D. "J.D." Carver and Viva Mae Jackson Carver.
Myles was a 1968 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and also a Lamar University graduate. He loved his family and was a world traveler. He was retired from Nutech Energy Alliance Corporation in Houston, Texas with eighteen years of service.
Those left to cherish Myles’ memory include his loving wife of 45 years, Deborah Carver of Kingwood; son, William Carver and his wife, Amanda of Brandon, Mississippi; daughter, Kimberley Godfrey and her husband, Travis of Cedar Park, Texas; grandchildren, Katie Carver and Tristan Godfrey; niece, Johanna Taggart; and his nephew, Coleman Roddy.

Godfrey Robert Charles, Sr. 2/7/50 - 2/27/25

Godfrey was born in Port Arthur, Texas on February 7,1950 to Clifton and Addie Lora Brown Charles. He accepted Christ at an early age at the former Sixth Street Missionary Baptist Church, currently known as Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. Godfrey graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served until, he was honorably discharged. After his military service, he met and married Lee Esther Griffin. Together they would raise three children: Nichole, Godfrey II, and Geoffrey. Godfrey worked at Texaco for several years while pursuing his college degree. He received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Lamar University and a master’s degree in Counseling from Prairie View A & M University. He worked as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor at Baptist Hospital before his passion for molding younger generations would lead to his career with Port Arthur Independent School District, where he served in several roles, mainly as a criminal justice teacher at the high school level. Godfrey later met and married Phyllis Woodard Charles. Together they spent 32 years of marriage until her passing in October 2022. Godfrey was a very active member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee and was on several committees throughout the years. He leaves a legacy of service to his country, church and community. Godfrey is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and his wife Phyllis. He leaves to cherish his children, Nichole, Godfrey II (Regina), and Geoffrey (Katina); grandchildren, Shermar, Trinity, Harmony, Kaisyn and Ne'Kayla; brother, Robert Charles; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 74 of Baton Rouge, LA recently and Groves, TX for decades passed away on Friday January 10, 2025. Linda was born on August 8, 1950 in Port Arthur, TX to the parents of Nichols “Nick” and Wilma Clause.
Linda, was a 1968 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. She was devoted to her immediate and extended family. She also had two passions for spending time outdoors and making people's hair look great. She spent most weekends at the beach or camping at the lake while cooking for her friends and family. She also had a tremendous 50 year career as a hair stylist between La Petite Beauty Salon and The Hair Bender with hundreds of long-term clients that she always looked forward to serving. Her last seven years were spent in Baton Rouge with her son Shawn Lowe and his wife Amelia Lowe.
She was preceded in death by her parents Nichols “Nick” Clause and Wilma Arnaud Clause of Groves, TX, first husband and father of her children, Johnnie Lowe of Richmond, TX , husband Michael Glenn of Groves, TX, and daughter Wendy Lowe Gardiner of Groves, TX.

65, of Nederland, died Monday, April 27,2015. She was born on September 13, 1949, in Port Arthur, to Gertrude Byrd and John Taylor Cochran, and had been a life long resident of the area.
Vicki’s heart was so pure, loving, and kind. She never forgot birthdays or phone numbers. Vicki sent cards to everyone for birthdays and holidays. She loved her cats.
Vicki is survived by her husband, Thomas Greer of Nederland; brother, Tommy Cochran of Groves; nieces,Claire Provost and her husband, John and D’Ann Cochran, all of Nederland; and nephew, Taylor Cochran of Groves. She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Betty Cochran McKenzie.

George Clifford Collins 1/11/50 - 12/10/20

was born in 1950 in Port Arthur, Texas to Corinne Thorne and Howard William Collins. He died December 10, 2020 following a courageous fight with progressive supranuclear palsy.
George was raised in Griffing Park, and went to Thomas Jefferson High School where he graduated as valedictorian in 1968. An active Boy Scout with Troop 82 in Port Arthur, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
He moved to Houston, where he attended Rice University to receive BA, MS, and PhD degrees in electrical engineering. During his undergraduate years, he met his wife of fifty years, Donna, in the Rice Owl Band. George was among the first faculty members at University of Houston Clear Lake, where he faithfully served his students and colleagues for forty years, holding positions including Associate Dean of Natural & Applied Sciences, Director of Programs in Technologies, and Program Chair of Computer Engineering.
Continuing with scouting, he volunteered as a Den Leader for Pack 18 at Poe Elementary. He was a dedicated member of First Christian Church for over fifty years. He lived for his family, particularly enjoying group vacations to the mountains of New Mexico.
He welcomed his mother-in-law and later his father into the family home in Houston, and cared for them in their last years with his typical patience and love.
George is survived by his wife Donna; sons Nicholas (Tanya), Andrew, and Benjamin (Monica); grandsons Anton, Alexander, and Hudson; brothers Billy (Marian), Eddie (Marie), and Johnny (Darcy); sisters-in-law Sue, Jennie, and Felice, aunts Virginia Avery and Flo Garrett, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was a kind and gentle soul with a great sense of humor, and we will all miss him terribly.

Alma loved gardening, but especially loved her family, including her grandchildren, and was a precious daughter. She had worked as a timekeeper for Fluor Corp.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Monroe Cook.

a deeply loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away on March 5, 2021 in the home of her daughter, Mandy Johnson in Katy, Texas.
Martha was born in Houston on August 24, 1950 to her mother, Guadalupe, and her father, Crecencio Cruz.
Eventually planting long-term roots in Silsbee, Texas, Martha married her surviving husband, Robert Middlebrook, who took great care of her throughout the years and kept a smile on her beautiful face constantly.
Genuine, radiant and never without red nail polish. Martha was adored by many. From hand-stitched quilts to cooking meals from scratch. Martha loved many things and people. She was an excellent care giver who always made sure that her children and grandchildren were well taken care of with bellies full of good food, cheeks covered in kisses, and bodies warm from tight hugs. Now gently tucked into our memories as "snug as a bug in a rug." Without warning death plucked a flower from our garden on Sept. 27, 2013. Sister Providencia Aretha Felipa-Dangerfield “Rita” Johnson was called from earth to heaven’s reward. She was born in Flushing Queens, Long Island, N.Y., on June 10, 1950, to the late Josephine Lewis Dangerfield (Nelson J. Dangerfield) and the late Prudencio V. H. Felipa.
Eulogy will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Donald R. Burnette as the officiant. Visitation will begin from 8 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Port Arthur, Texas. Rita, as she was affectionately called, was a civic leader and a public servant who can be appropriately described as a godly woman who vigorously pursued a godly path toward a godly cause. This chosen course of action made her unique and set her remarkably apart in God’s orchard as an abundantly productive fruitbearing tree whose leaves of concern for human betterment never withered, and whose inward and outward prosperity never waned.
Sister Johnson received her high school diploma from Thomas Jefferson High School of Port Arthur, Texas, in 1968 and graduated in 1970 from Chenier Business School of Beaumont, Texas, with a certification in business administration.
Providencia and Larry Thompson were united in marriage and produced a daughter, Sharonda. When she moved to Crowley, she united in holy matrimony with Haymon Johnson on Sept. 5, 1998. She was proud of her family whom she loved dearly, and that love was reciprocated.
Her religion began with the Catholic faith and in 1985 Rita was baptized at the Mount Sinai Baptist Church of Port Arthur, Texas, and later united with Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Crowley, her church family, under the leadership of Reverend Donald R. Burnette Sr. Sister Johnson served faithfully as member of the Chancel Choir, held the position of pastor’s aid president, produced a newsletter called “The Star”, was a youth department member and of Division II – Missionary Society, a Bible Vacation School teacher, donated toward the purchase of uniforms for the junior ushers and worked wherever she was needed.  Providencia was the first president of the reorganization of Homeland Civic and Social organization. She served in that capacity for two years.
She was an inactive member of Excelsior Chapter, Order of Eastern Star #84. Rita’s career in Crowley began as clerk at Crowley City Hall. She later moved into the position of grants coordinator. She was responsible for the grant writing and research for funding of Capital Outlay Projects, DARE grants, Local Law Enforcement Block grants, Rural Development grants, Decentralized Arts Grant, Louisiana Main Street grants and Historic Preservation grants.
Rita was very instrumental in the implementation of the Historic Parkerson Avenue Redevelopment Avenue Project and was the grants writer for the improvements to the Crowley Baseball Complex and Miller Stadium Project. In 1999, she became the first Main Street manager for the city of Crowley. Rita implemented the Main Street program which is designed to promote the historic and economic redevelopment of downtown. In 2001, Crowley Main Street was recognized as a National Main Street Community. She introduced Witchy Way, and Kids Day Out, “An Evening with the Arts & A Taste of Cuisine, (a Remember November Main Street event) and published a newsletter for Main Street. She was financial officer for the Louisiana Main Street Mangers Association. 
Providencia helped plan over 33 percent of the arts programming for the Crowley Art Association and the city. Along the way she helped create sidewalk chalk art day in April Sketches, art shows at the Opera House and helped spread the word about arts of Crowley. 
She was co-chairperson of the Mardi Gras and July Fete festivities.
She was a participant of the Miss Bea’s Reading Program at Ross Elementary School. 
Rita was secretary to Alderwoman Laurita Pete, president of the Louisiana Black Caucus Association for one year. 
Providencia was the mother of one child and five grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother, Josephine Dangerfield; her father, Prudencio V. H. Felipa and Nelson J. Dangerfield, who reared her; two sisters, Mary Louise Lawson and Dorothy Morgan; and one brother, Bennett Tyler. 
She leaves to celebrate her life her husband, Haymon “Jake”; one daughter, Sharonda (Craig) of Beaumont; five grandchildren, Amanda Holbert and Breanna Arline (Rashad Arline) of Beaumont and Samaris Smith, Broderick Holbert and Bryce Holbert, all of Beaumont; two great-grandchildren, Carmen Jones and Jatorian Adams. Rita also leaves to cherish her fond memories: one sister, Mattie Dorsey of Port Arthur; one sister she adopted, Margaret Young of Crowley; and her special friends, Pat Johnson of Crowley and Charlene Godeau of Port Arthur.
She leaves also to mourn her passing Ms. Delores N. Johnson, her mother-in- law; Mr. John Johnson (Claudette), her father-in-law; four sisters-in-law, Vera Minix (Paul Lewis) of Beaumont, Nancy (Wendell Milson) of Crowley, Leola Johnson (Walter Anderson) of Crowley and Elaine (Mike Freeman) of Crowley; three brothers-in-law, John Wayne (Doretheia) of Rayne, Dave of Rayne and Gilbert of Manhattan, Kan.; two godchildren, Laqueisha Pattman of McKinnley, Texas and Brianna Anderson of Crowley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service, officiated by family members, was held March 15 at Richard's Park in Brady. Interment was in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Mr. DeCluitt was born Jan. 3, 1950, in Port Arthur, the son of John and Barbara Deane (Faulk) DeCluitt Jr. He was an automotive and diesel mechanic until ill health forced his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dwight James DeCluitt; and one sister, Connie Lou Kemmitz. Survivors include two brothers, Gerald DeCluitt of Montgomery , AL. and Donald Curtis DeCluitt of Gatesville; two sisters, Deborah Ann Holbern of Eden and Norma Ruth Kemmitz of Gatesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

66, died Thursday at the Nix Hospital, after a long battle with cardiovascular disease. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas 03-28-1950. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur in 1968. He attended Lamar College. Donald lived in California for many years and moved to San Antonio in 2013.His parents, Beatrix and Jesse Austin DeLee of Port Arthur, Texas, precede Donald in death. He is survived by his brother, Jesse C. Linda M.Dowling 4/29/50 - 1/13/26

75, of Woodville, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. A devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and great-grandmother, Linda was known for her gentle spirit, strong faith, generosity, and deep love for her family.
Linda was born on April 29, 1950, in Port Arthur, Texas, the only child of Edna (Vickers) Dowling and James Dowling. She was born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas, where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968. She continued her education by attending Lamar University in Beaumont.
Throughout her working life, Linda served in various administrative and professional roles, earning the respect and affection of coworkers for her strong work ethic, reliability, and kindness. In addition to assisting for many years with the administrative side of the family business, Weldon’s Furniture Repair and Refinishing, she also applied her talents to several other businesses, a few of which included Keys Electric, MICA, Prudential, FB Taylor, American Real Estate, and RE/MAX.
Linda and her late husband, Robert, met at a young age at Trinity Baptist Church in Port Arthur and built a life together. At the time of his passing in 2024, they had been married for 55 years. They first made a home in Groves, then Port Arthur, followed by many years in Port Neches, and ultimately settled in Woodville for retirement. Her proudest legacy was her family, often telling anyone that would listen about the achievements and adventures of her sons and their families.
Linda had many interests and talents. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed needlepoint, game nights with family and friends, and especially the Christmas season. She loved country, gospel, and easy listening music and valued her past involvement and fellowship at Procter Baptist Church.
Linda possessed a calm, tender, and selfless nature, coupled with a thoughtful curiosity and a steadfast faith. Those who knew her often said that to know Linda was to love her. She will be missed so much, but Heaven is undoubtedly shining brighter now.
She is survived by her sons: Mark Weldon and wife Susan of Kingwood; Scott Weldon and wife Leah of Kingwood; and Steven Weldon and wife Dannette of Silsbee. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law: David Weldon and wife Karie of Benbrook; Gary Weldon and wife Jacqueline of Houston; and Kevin Weldon of Villa Rica, Georgia.
Linda leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren: Erica Blair Weldon and wife Emily, Adam Weldon, Allison Weldon, Lee Moynahan III, Megan Morgan and husband Dan, Molly Moynahan, Libby Weldon, Mason Weldon, Tessa Buck, Gracin Weldon, Grady Weldon, Kayley Goodhue, Taylor Wright and spouse Aspen Ling, and William Wright; as well as great-grandchildren Everett Morgan, Adaline Morgan, Charlotte Buck, Mini Buck, Clayton Buck, Harlen Martel. She is also survived by special friends Jim Davant and Mark Lee, and her beloved dogs, Snickers and T9C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Weldon, Jr.; her parents, Edna and James Dowling; parents-in-law, Peggy and Robert Earl Weldon, Sr.; and her dear friend Ramona Davant.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville, Texas, followed by a celebration of life service.

57, of Port Arthur passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont after a nine month battle with lung cancer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008, at Grammier - Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Cremation will take place at Wilbert Crematorium in Beaumont. Jeanne was born on July 31, 1950, in Port Arthur, Texas to Lydia Marie Hogg Duplantis and Guy Ray Duplantis. She had lived in Port Arthur all of her life and was employed at Transit Mix as a yard manager. Jeanne loved to play golf, loved to remodel and was generally considered a “handy-woman” tinkering with things that needed to be fixed around the house. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly.

73, of Groves, Texas passed away on June 18,2024, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. She was known for her dedication and compassion, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Born on October 5, 1950, in Franklin, Louisiana, Dianne's life was filled with love and which she extended to her family and friends. As an Administrative Assistant Secretary for Lamar University Deaf Education, she touched the lives of many with her hard work and kindness.
Dianne was more than just a professional; she was a devout catholic and a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She was a compassionate caregiver to her mother and grandmother, showing boundless love and support. Her talents were not just limited to the workplace; she was known for making the best homemade biscuits and hot chocolate, bringing joy to those around her.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Dianne remember her as a proud and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed engaging in conversations with friends and was a social butterfly who loved hosting visitors with delicious food.
In her leisure time, Dianne found joy in cooking and watching TV. Her presence illuminated any gathering, making everyone feel welcome and at ease.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby (Durocher) Dupre and Charles Anthony Dupre Sr., but she leaves behind a lasting impact on all who knew her. She is survived by her loving daughter Margaret (McGlaun) Powell and son-in-law Michael of Groves, along with grandsons Nathaniel Powell and Anthony Dean Powell. Her Grand Pups Lizzy and Jane will also miss their doting grandma.
Additionally, Dianne is survived by her siblings: Gen Dupre and spouse Leigh Harper of Oregon, Prissy McEachern and husband Ronald of Montgomery, Charlotte Reimer of Nederland, Charles Anthony Dupre Jr. of Illinois, Duane Dupre and wife Helen of Groves; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Lynn Eldridge 6/15/50 - 12/26/22

Lynn Eldridge Gill, beloved wife, mother and grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 26, 2022.
A third generation Texan, she was born to the late Ray and Gertrude Eldridge in Port Arthur, Texas on June 15, 1950.
As a student at Texas Tech University, she met Jim Gill, the love of her life. They were married in 1971 and, by her death, they parted 51-years and three days later.
After graduating from Tech in 1972, Lynn went on to nursing school and became a registered nurse in 1974.
After she and Jim settled in Corsicana, they were blessed with two children, Atticus in 1975 and Meredith in 1976.
In 1987, Lynn began a home health care career where she would serve as Director of Home Health at Baylor and later at Presbyterian. And although she and Jim moved to Dallas in 1996, Tupelo, Texas remained her refuge. She was either busy decorating for the next season or entertaining Port Arthur friends, Kappa Alpha Theta friends, Corsicana friends, Dallas friends, nurse friends or all the grandkids.
Lynn is survived by her husband, Jim; her son, Atticus and his wife, Anna; her daughter, Meredith Johnson, and her husband, Jeremy; her grandchildren, Jackson, Hayden and Colson Gill, Molly and Atticus McDaniel, Levi Johnson and Jesse Swift.
Lynn donated her body to the Medical Education & Research Institute where, even in death, she continues to advance the mission of caring for the sick.
Lynn's memorial service will be at 2:00PM on Friday, January 13, 2023, in Faith Chapel at Prestonwood Baptist Church.

54, of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 1004, at her home in Houston.
She was born on December 17, 1949 in Port Arthur Texas to Johnny Elizondo and Eppie Moreno Elizondo. Cynthia lived in Port Arthur for most of her life, before moving to Houston 8 years ago. She was a 1968 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and a graduate from Lamar University in Beaumont. Cynthia also graduated from University of Texas at Arlington, and worked as a Critical Care registered nurse at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Clear Lake, Texas, and Christus Saint Mary's Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas.
A Rosary for Cynthia will be recited at 6:00pm, Saturday, December 18th, 2004 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church by Rev. T.R. Blanco. Private burial will be at Memory Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors.
She is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Elizondo of Port Arthur, her brothers and sisters: Tom Elizondo and Irene Cooper of Port Arthur, Gloria Elizondo of Lafayette, LA., Mary Helen Elizondo of Port Arthur, Steve Elizondo of Raleigh, NC., Cathy Hammond of Groves and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, or Southeast Texas Humane Society. Cynthia always had a great love for animals.

Jack Walker Etheredge, Jr. 8/17/50 - 5/15/19

68, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on May 15, 2019, at his home surrounded by loved ones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2019, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be Father Steve Leger. Cremation will follow the Mass under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on August 17, 1950, he was the son of Jack Walker Etheredge, Sr. and Eva (Blackwell) Etheredge. Jack served his country in the National Guard and worked many years as an operator for Total. Jack enjoyed spending time on the golf course, watching westerns-especially Gun Smoke and anything with John Wayne, reading, and going to see blues music played live. He loved the beach and would spend as much time as he could at their family beach house in Crystal Beach. Jack was a very adventurous, outgoing man with a great sense of humor as well as being affectionate and always there for the good hugs. He had an infectious laugh, the gift of gab, never met a stranger, and was known to be the life of the party. He was a true family man who adored his grandchildren. He loved to take them to breakfast, coach their little league teams, and never missed one of his children’s or grandchildren’s games. Jack loved life and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Life will be a little less bright without his shining smile.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Eva Etheredge.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Charlotte Ellia (Cunningham) Etheredge; daughters, Niki Renee’ Ford and husband Chris, of Buda and Brittany Starr Sauer, of Mauriceville; grandchildren, Peyton Ford, Jaxon Sauer, Sydnee Sauer, Cason Ford, and his bonus grandson, Bryden Richardson; siblings, Chalma Blackwell and husband Mike, Angie Burleigh and husband Kenny, and Vicki Etheredge; along with numerous other loving family and friends.

Marlene Fallin 4/8/50 - 3/5/23

72, of Austin, Texas, died on March 5, 2023, at home, holding hands with her beloved family.
Marlene was born on April 3, 1950, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Marl and Gussie (Jackson) Fallin. She is survived by her husband, Ken; former husband, J. Patrick Rick; four children: P. Ian Rick (Amanda Hood-Rick), Sara Rick, Christine Mangione Harff (Christopher Harff), and John Santos-Mangione (Tara Dorsey-Mangione); six grandchildren: Autumn Rick; Avery, Noelle, and Blake Harff; John and Willam Mangione; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Marlene received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Lamar State College in 1971. In 1982, she moved to Austin, where she joined First United Methodist Church and became an active member. Marlene loved her church family, her Emma’s reunion group, and her Sunday School class.
Marlene taught school in Port Arthur, Richardson, and Austin for 35 years. Her pride was in her schools and co-workers—her school family—and her students. She shared her passion for learning with hundreds of children. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met.
Oh Lord, you got a keeper….thank you for letting her be in our lives.

Beverly Fontenot 7/11/50 - 9/17/2020

70, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. Beverly was born July 11, 1950 in Port Arthur, Texas to Willis Fontenot and Rosa Belle Fontenot. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. Beverly retired from Port Arthur ISD having worked in the cafeteria at Travis Elementary with 20 plus years of service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Reverend Shiju Churakal officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Beverly was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Belle Fontenot, and brothers-in-law, Dennis Nixson and Dennis Holberg. Surviving relatives include her husband of 50 years, Frank “Nick” Nixson of Port Neches, Texas; sons, David Nixson and wife Vicki of Port Neches, Texas, Derrill Nixson of Port Neches, Texas; grandchildren, Kynlee Nixson, Kade Morgan, and Kalah Morgan all of Port Neches, Texas; father, Willis Fontenot of Port Arthur, Texas; sisters, Debbie Fontenot Holberg of Nederland, Texas, Susan Fontenot Singleton and husband Brian of Nederland, Texas, and Melissa Fontenot of Port Neches, Texas; brother, Kevin Fontenot of Port Arthur, Texas; brother-in-law, Terry Nixson and wife Lana of College Station, Texas.

Gary Wayne Franklin 10/13/49 - 11/24/2022

73, of Groves, Texas passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Gary was born October 13, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Clarence and Versie Franklin.
Gary served in the United States Army and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Port Arthur. He retired from Texaco Refinery after forty-five years of service as a machinist. Gary enjoyed various types of cars, motorcycles and collecting antiques.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Arnold Franklin and Versie Elizabeth (Smith) Franklin. Those left to cherish Gary’s memory include his son, Darryl W. Franklin of Nederland, Texas; brother, Glenn A. Franklin and his wife, Glenda of Nederland, Texas; sister, Phyllis E. Beavens of Groves, Texas.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Gary’s Life to begin at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2022, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, with full Military Honors to be provided by the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group.
