Charlotte Ann Pace 12/4/49 - 11/27/20

70, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on December 4, 1949 to Eugene Calvin Pace and Dorothy Ann Collins Pace.
Charlotte was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. While raising her family she attended Lamar University in the 1980’s and received her teaching degree and taught for many years, retiring from the Port Neches Groves Independent School District. She was a lifelong area resident and member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches.
A visitation for family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with funeral services to follow at 6:00 p.m. with Reverend Shane Baxter officiating.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Gaspard and husband Heath of Port Neches, TX, sons, Chris Thurston and wife Brandi of Port Neches, TX, and Eric Thurston and wife Liz of Port Neches, TX, brothers, Eugene Pace and wife Linda of Fort Worth, TX, and Larry Pace and wife Nancy of Spring, TX, and eight grandchildren, Garrett Gaspard, Karington Thurston, Kamryn Thurston, Grant Gaspard, Kase Thurston, Jillian Thurston, Grey Gaspard and Owen Thurston.
The family would like to thank her very special friends, Debbie Sterling, Kay Lower, Dewana Mann, Katie Pace, Denise Thurston and Gilsey Campion for their love and support during our Mom’s battle with cancer. Kirk Pandella 3/30/19 - 2/25/95

44, of Port Arthur died Saturday, February 25, 1995 at St. Mary Hospital . A native of Port Arthur , he was a marine engineer consultant.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at St. George Episcopal church. There will be family graveside services.
Survivors include his parents, Eddie and Mary Pandella; a sister, Mrs. Norman Alston; and a niece and nephew. _ ___________________________________________

Patricia Patrick 5/31/50 - 7/19/23

Patricia Vee Patrick Cunningham born May 31, 1950 in Port Arthur, Texas passed away peacefully with her loving sons by her side on July 19, 2023 in St. Petersburg, Florida after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was 73.
Memorial services are planned for Patricia in March, 2024 (exact date and time decided later) at the First Baptist Church of Aransas Pass, Texas. Internment is planned at Greenlawn Cemetery, Groves, Texas, where she will rest eternally beside her beloved husband, Burt.
Patricia spent the majority of her childhood in Port Arthur running after her big brother, Buzz, playing outside with the neighborhood kids, making mud pies, attending Port Arthur schools and spending many holidays and vacations with her beloved Adams cousins in Arkansas and Mississippi. After her father’s death and mother’s re-marriage, Patricia moved to Aransas Pass, Texas, where she graduated from Aransas Pass High School. She met the love of her life, Burt, who was stationed in the coast Guard in Port Aransas. They spent the majority of their married life in Ingleside, where they raised their two sons.
Patricia was committed to community service through her church, The First Baptist Church of of Aransas Pass, and the Aransas Pass Women’s Club where she organized and ran the Women’s Club shrimp booth at Shrimporee for years to fund local high school scholarships for deserving students. She worked at many jobs as an adult but was most proud of her work as a private pre-kindergarten teacher, her certification as an Emergency Medical Technician and her long-time management of a private medical practice office. She continued to learn and grow, touching the heart of everyone she met through her compassion, faith, duty and love.
Patricia was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sibling, grandmother and life-long friend to many. She as funny, practical, organized, efficient and conscientious. She loved old movies, cooking, sewing and crafting. She was the first to volunteer for many tasks for her family and community and will be deeply missed because she was so deeply loved. Those who loved her know that she greatly missed her husband, Burt, and comforted that she is now at peace with him. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Ernest E. Patrick and Allie Lee Adams Patrick and beloved husband, Burt Cunningham. She is survived by her son, Beau Cunningham and his wife, Shelley and their children, Abbie Lee, Max and Casey and Bill Cunningham. Patricia is also survived by her brother, Ernest E. Patrick and other family members.
If you wish to honor her memory, the family asks that you donate to either the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the Parkinson’s Foundation to assist others who must deal with the disease that took Patricia from those that loved her so much.

Thomas Bouck Phillips 9/3/49 - 1/27/13

Thomas and his wife Patricia, received some disturbing news this past October that would forever change their lives. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was sent home with a short time to live. With all the hope and faith that God's perfect will would be done, they began their journey. In the care of the angels from Hospice, his wife, twin brother and the many friends and family members that would visit him over the next four months, his wishes were being granted and God's will was being done. Thomas was a caring, considerate, patient and selfless person, Tom was that good and perfect gift that comes from the Father above. His wife will forever be grateful for the 17 years she spent with him and will always cherish the love he had for her children and grandchildren. He will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Thomas went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2013 surrounded by his wife, twin brother and friends.
A native of Port Arthur, he was born on September 3, 1949 to Charles and Helen Phillips who preceded him in death. He has resided in Orange, Tx for 17 years where he worked as a draftsman. Thomas loved his family and friends and had a passion for the outdoors and his animals. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Patricia Phillips, his step children Larry and Elizabeth Tyson, Justin Tyson, grandchildren Noah Tyson, Addison Tyson and Jude Tyson, twin brother Tim and Kathleen Phillips of Groves, nephew Chris Phillips, Marissa Stiles and Lindsey Lakey and great nieces Kendall Socia, Merrit Styles and Mason Lakey.
Thomas's life will be celebrated with a gathering of family and friends on February 10, 2013 at the Groves Activity Center, 6150 39th St., Groves, Tx. from 1 - 5 p.m. Tom's Death Notice sent to several classmates by Bob Sandoval Just a real brief note to let you know of the passing of our beloved friend, brother, and classmate, Tom Phillips. It saddens me to pass this on but Tom died this morning at home in a restive sleep after having been in hospice care for several weeks. It was liver cancer and possibly pancreas cancer; MD Anderson explained treatment would only prolong the inevitable for maybe 6 months. He was brave, upbeat, and prepared to meet his Almighty. Tom and Patricia chose to go home for his final days, his best care option. Patricia and Tim could not be better care givers. No one could have received better care and love than he did in his final days. When I visited in November he talked about his friends and classmates. You were a favorable, fun part of his life. Yesterday he could not speak and was in somewhat of a mild coma. His breathing was heavy at times and Tom would blink his eyes when Tim, myself, or his beloved wife, Patricia, got close, touched him, and spoke softly. He knew it was us, I feel. Hoping not to upset anyone but wanted to pass this one. As we all know, Thomas is in a better place. He was as close as a brother, a big part of my life, and will rest in peace. Patricia Ann Picard 2/4/50 - 5/18/07

57, passed away early Friday morning on May 18, 2007 at her residence in Kountze. A very loving Mother and Grandmother, she leaves behind her husband, Tommy Wendt, Sr.; daughters, Sheryl Wendt from Kountze, Wendy Wendt from Athens; and son Tommy Wendt Jr. from Silsbee; she also leaves behind five brothers and two sisters and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 20th at 2:00pm at Robinson's Community Funeral Home in Silsbee, TX with Burial at Kirby Cemetery in Silsbee following services. She will be dearly missed and always loved. _ ___________________________________________

Claude Joseph Pinell 11/15/49 - 9/3/13

63, of Nederland, Texas passed away September 3, 2013 at his home. He was born on November 15, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas to Claude Joseph Pinell, Jr. and Ruth Jenny Reese.
He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army and retired from Huntsman.
A memorial service will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Claude is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Jenny Pinell.

Patricia Polidore 7/20/50 - 8/22/13

of Port Arthur transitioned from this life to her home in glory on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Cypress Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation. A native of New Iberia, Louisiana, she was born to the late Hazel Polidore-Widow and the late Walter Swan on July 20, 1950.

Michael R. Quebedeaux 11/23/49-4/17/98

48, of Bridge City died Friday, April 17, 1998 at Park Place Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. A Port Arthur native, he had been a longtime resident of the city before moving to Bridge City 13 years ago. He was an operator for DuPont Sabine River Works, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City.
Services will be at 2p.m. Monday at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with the Rev. Peter Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 8a.m. Sunday, and a rosary will be recited at 7p.m. Sunday with the Rev.Jim McClintock officiating at the funeral home. _ ___________________________________________

Wayne Paul Ransonette 7/20/48 - 3/19/08

59, of Beaumont ended his journey on earth March 19, 2008 at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth surrounded by his beloved family. He was the third son born to Olga & Harold J. Ransonette, Sr. on July 20, 1948 in Port Arthur, TX. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High in Port Arthur and attended Lamar Technical Arts in Beaumont.
In 1969 he proudly served his country by joining the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam War, he continued that service as a port security officer in the Reserve unit. On March 13, 1971 he married Vicki Tomlinson and to this marriage were born two daughters. After his active service in the Coast Guard he began his career in finance at Community Finance, Beaumont State Bank, then Sabine Bank in Port Arthur. After ending his banking career he started a mortgage company and a travel agency in Beaumont.
He married Charlotte Nickelson in 1988 and moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue a career in mortgage finance. In 1992 he moved to Nederland, Texas with his wife to be closer to his family. Due to poor health he was forced to take an early retirement, and was able to enjoy the last years of his life surrounded by his loving family and many friends. He was a great dad and Pawpaw, his daughters and their families were his greatest source of joy in life, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Both his parents preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted daughters Sheree Will and husband Donnie of Vidor; Brigette Johnson and husband Aaron of Port Arthur. Two step-sons Jason Nickelson of Port Arthur and Clint Nickelson of Portland, Oregon. Three grandchildren Jordan Will of Huntsville, Jason Will and Haley Will of Vidor and Nicholas Johnson of Lumberton; brother, Harold Red Ransonette, Jr. and wife, Ruby of Beaumont; Leonard Ransonette and wife Lora of Channelview and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Mar. 23, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Port Arthur at 10:00 AM, March 24, 2008. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Betty Sue Ratley 8/22/50 - 6/3/04

54, passed away Thursday June 3, 2004, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A native of Port Arthur, and a long time resident of Fort Bend County, Sue was born August 22, 1950. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Port Arthur Business College. Sue worked many years for M. W. Kellogg, Kaverner, and Amoseas in the Houston area, where she held various payroll positions for each company.
She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land, TX.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, Travis B. Ratley; and mother, Lena J. Tritico Ratley. Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of thirty-four years, Frank D. Piletere; brother, Travis B. Ratley, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Port Neches, TX; brother-in-law, Dale J. Piletere and his wife Peggy of Richmond, TX; sister-in-law, Brenda G. Marchand and her husband Doug of Savannah, GA; mother and father-in-law, Virginia and Thomas Moore of Richmond, TX; and many other relatives and friends whom she dearly loved.
Visitation: Sunday, June 6, 2004, 7-9pm, St. Theresa Catholic Church, 115 Seventh St., Sugar Land, TX with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00pm. Mass of the Resurrection: Monday, June 7, 2004, St. Theresa Catholic Church, with the Rev. Stephen B. Reynolds, Celebrant. Rite of committal: Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dale J. Piletere, Doug Marchand, Jack Marchand, Clint Morrell, Daniel Ratley, Joey Adams, Johnny Maduzia, and Paul Gill.
The family wishes to acknowledge Liliana Montemayor who gave tirelessly of her time and was deeply devoted to Sue as her caregiver.

Earnest Reed Jr. 6/04/50 - 8/20/12

was born in Port Arthur, Texas on June 4, 1950, and passed away on Aug. 20, 2012, after a brief illness. He graduated from Port Arthur High School in 1968 and was briefly in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Maine in 1982 to attend and later graduate from what is today the Southern Maine Community College with a degree in Marine Engineering.
He began working at 'Aunti Leoni's' deli soon after his arrival in Maine and many, many Portlanders will remember him as the guy on the dinner shift who made the best pizzas in town (as testified by the results of annual contests reported in the Casco Bay Weekly).
Earnie leaves behind his best friend and brother, Michael Reed of Durham, two sisters, Zella Marsh of Port Arthur, Texas and Deborah Rice of Portland; as well as several nieces and nephews. Left to grieve his passing are his brother-in-law, Harrison Rice; and his close friends, Will and Char Childs, Dana and Stephani Sawyer and Jeremiah Carter. A service celebrating Ernie's life and love of the outdoors will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 12-2 p.m., in the Longfellow House Gardens, located at 489 Congress St., in Portland. Parking is available in the Brown Street lot. We invite all who knew Earnie to come, share a story and a meal in his memory.

48, of Kirbyville died Wednesday, July 18, 1998 at Jasper Memorial Hospital . A native of Orange , he had lived in Kirbyville for 22 years and was a machinist at the Huntsman Corporation in Port Arthur and a former police officer in Griffing Park .
Services will be a 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Kirbyville. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Roganville.

Eldridge L. Robinson 12/14/49 - 1/11/77

27, of Port Arthur , died Tuesday, January 11, 1977, at 9:54 a.m. in St. Mary's Hospital. Mr. Robinson was a native of Port Arthur aand was employed through Labor Local 853.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Eastern Star Baptist church. The Rev. L.B. Wade, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery , under the direction of Moody-Harris Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the funeral home chapel from 6 until 10 p.m. Friday.

Bonnie Theresa Romero 12/21/49 - 7/5/07

57, passed away from heart failure on July 5, 2007 in Welsh, Louisiana. Bonnie Theresa Romero was born December 21, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas to the union of Lovelace and Edna Romero.
She is survived by her son Richard Daniel and Wife Kathy, her father Lovelace Romero and her stepson J.D. Linscombe, as well as Bonnie's grandchildren: Thomas Dean Daniel, Logan and Asher Linscombe. Also surviving Bonnie are her brothers Kenneth and Darrell, her sister Myra and their families.
She is predeceased by her mother Edna and her loving companion and husband Elmer Dean Linscombe. Bonnie resided in Houston, Texas for 35 years.
She greatly enjoyed the Motorcycle Club lifestyle. Bonnie and Dean were the ideal "In the Wind Couple" For Bonnie, the phrase "What's Right is Right" governed her life regardless of society's morals and rules. Her soul mate in this life was Elmer Dean.
She will be greatly missed by her friends and those who understood and accepted who she was and what she stood for. Bonnie's remains were cremated in Louisiana.
A Memorial Service for friends and family has been organized by her son Richard Daniel and will be held Saturday the 28th of July at Brookside Funeral Home at 3:00pm in Houston, Texas.

Phillip Earl Romero 12/23/49 - 11/8/25

ROMERO--Phillip Earl. Psychiatrist, author, and artist Phillip E. Romero, MD passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025. He was 75 years old. Dr. Romero spent most of his life in NYC, where he practiced for more than 40 years. He marveled at how the mind and creativity could foster resilience and healing, which he explored in his latest book, Andy Warhol's Brain: Creative Intelligence for Survival. Harold Louis Ross 3/7/50 - 8/29/23

Hal Ross has quietly left his earthly life of 73 years on August 29, 2023 for his eternal home to be united with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and his loved-ones.
He was born in Galveston, Texas on March 7, 1950; the oldest son to Dr. and Mrs. O.H. Ross a pediatrician, in Port Arthur.
Hal graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968.
While attending Lamar University he pledged Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was employed by Texas Highway Department hanging highway signs.
After graduating from Lamar in 1972, Arthur Anderson (one of the “Big 5” accounting firms of its time from Houston) came calling and he became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and was employed by them for 5 years until moving back home to Port Arthur to work for Mazur and Vernon.
Those of you who knew and loved Hal, knew his life was very busy and adventurous and wherever he went he met and made life-long friends along the way.
He then decided to go back to school and passed the Bar Exam. He was employed as a Probate, Criminal, Civil and Business Law Attorney before 2003 when County Judge Carl Griffith gave him dual roles to fill probating mental health hearings for the County and to manage The Jefferson County Airport where his most memorable role as the Airport Manager would be to orchestrate the Civilian Airlift for 8,500 people from the Golden Triangle to safe locations throughout Texas before Hurricane Rita landed.
After retiring from the airport in 2011, Hal became a guide for dove hunters in South Texas for 5 years. He was a member of The American Sportsman Club.
Hal always rose to the occasion to be with his daughter and grandchildren that he so loved and cherished. He is survived by his daughter, Lindsey Lefort; his 3 grandchildren Ross, Kate and Lucas Lefort; Glynda McCuller, a very significant woman in his life; a sister, Mary Ellen Cox (Richard) of Groves and a brother, Don Ross of Port Arthur; many nieces and nephews and his furry companion “Elsa”!
He will be greatly missed by so many people.
A visitation will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Wesley Methodist Church in Nederland, Texas. Service will be Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Wesley Methodist Church in Nederland, Texas.

Rex Rowley 1/17/49 - 10/6/76

Funeral services for Rex Blanton Rowley III, 27, of Port Arthur , will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Nederland Memorial Funeral Home chapel. Rowley was killed Wednesday, October 6, 1976 in a one car mishap on Hwy 60 near Huntington . According to reports of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Rowley was killed and Columbus Eason, 59, of Spurger was injured when Rowley's car ran off the road and overturned. Eason was admitted to the Veterans Hospital in Houston in fair condition following the accident.
Following the funeral services Saturday, Rowley will be buried in Greenlawn Memrial Park .
Survivors include his wife, Leora, one son, Blanton Rowley; one stepson, Wayne Whitfield; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace DeLord; two sisters, Sue Sanders and Celia Rowley and one brother, Ben Rowley. ___________________________________________________________________

David Eugene Salter 10/13/49 - 8/23/20

70, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Brownwood on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 2p.m. David was born October 13, 1949 to O.L. & Jean Salter. He and his sister Beverly grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, and he graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He married Lana Lloyd of Knott, Texas in 1973, and they had two children, Windell and Erica. David began his 43 year career as a Petroleum Engineer with Texaco in Midland, Texas. He later worked for TXO in Midland, Wichita, Kansas, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, then spent over 30 years working for Mustang Fuel Company of Oklahoma City. After retiring, he and his wife relocated to Brownwood. His faith and love for people guided his life and he enjoyed sharing God’s love as a worship team member, choir director, Sunday school teacher, and Bible study leader. After moving to Brownwood he volunteered with Good Samaritan Ministries and served as a member of their board. David was a lifetime sports fan who especially enjoyed following the Oklahoma City Thunder and any Texas Tech team. Harold Wayne Schkade 6/28/50 - 7/23/23

73, of Port Neches, Texas, passed away on, Sunday, July 23, 2023, after a long fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
Harold was born on June 28, 1950, in Port Arthur, Texas to Walter August Schkade and Lorene Bernice Domaschk Schkade. Harold was born the youngest of four siblings.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968 and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1974 where he was a Fire Control Technician and worked with guns and security clearance.
Shortly after the Navy, he hired into Texaco Oil Refinery, which was later bought out as Huntsman Refinery and worked as an Electrician for 40 years and retired there in 2016.
He obtained his Master Electrician License and to help further his career he attended Lamar University where he completed his Associates of Applied Science Degree.
Harold put family first always. He was dedicated to raising two daughters and loved his wife, Susan with all his heart. Everything he did was for his family, which he considered to be his world. He worked hard to make sure they were well taken care of and felt loved every day. He was a proud Husband, Father and Pop and showed unconditional love to his grandkids. He was the patriarch of the family. He lived a life of fun and adventure, loved to travel and explore the oceans. He enjoyed sailing, scuba diving, hunting, fishing, and snorkeling. The beach was where he spent most of his time all through his life, it was his happy place.
He is preceded in death by both parents, Walter and Lorene Schkade, sister, Shirley Schkade, brothers, Glenn Schkade and Ronnie Schkade and much-loved daughter, Ashley Schkade.
He is survived by wife, Susan Guidry Schkade; daughter, Lori Schkade McClung and husband, Tanner McClung; grandchildren, Tucker, and Teddi McClung; sister, Carolyn Costa; sisters-in law, Phyllis Schkade and Doris Schkade; many cousins, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, within the Schkade Family.

Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on November 7, 1949, he was the son of Joseph C. Schmidt and Mildred Jordan (Abide). He was a cherished individual who brought joy to those around him. Dennis worked as a machinist for Marine Industrial for many years. He got an earlier start helping his dad in his machine shop. Dennis had a passion for fishing, often spending his free time by the water. He enjoyed trying new foods and had a special fondness for his animals, especially his dogs. Dennis loved to stay connected with the latest in computer casinos, which kept his interest alive and entertained. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mildred Schmidt; his brother, John Schmidt; and his sister, Stacie Williams.
He is survived by his son, Jason Schmidt; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Millie Schmidt Pritchard and Joey Schmidt; as well as other loving family and friends.

Christine lived her life for the Lord. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968, she continued her college education at Lamar University. She taught special education and elementary school in Nebraska and Port Arthur for over twenty-nine years. Two things she enjoyed most were music and singing. Christine will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister with a self-sacrificing heart.

Randy was born on August 4, 1950, to his parents, Otis Sonnier and Thelma Durio Sonnier. Alongside his brother, Garland Sonnier, Randy shared many cherished memories growing up in a supportive and loving family environment.
One of Randy's proudest accomplishments was instilling a love for reading and history in his children and grandchildren. His passion for knowledge and learning will continue to inspire future generations within his family.
A man of varied interests, Randy enjoyed spending time solving puzzles, following sports events closely, and above all relishing the joy brought by his beloved grandchildren. His eyes would light up with happiness whenever he was surrounded by Cassidy Arredondo, Jagger Sonnier, Krysten Sonnier, Marlee Sonnier, Aubrey Whitmire, and Beckom Whitmire.
In his journey of life, Randy found unwavering support and boundless love from his wife of 51 years, Mabel Sonnier of Nederland. Together they built a strong foundation based on love and respect that will forever stand as a testament to their enduring bond.
Randy is survived by his wife, Mabel Sonnier; daughter, Melissa Sonnier Whitmire (James) of Port Arthur; sons, Jason Sonnier (Nichole) of Port Neches and Scott Sonnier (Christina) of Port Neches; along with his grandchildren who meant the world to him. Randy was precede in death by his parents, Otis and Thelma Sonnier, and his brother, Garland Sonnier.

Elizabeth was born on November 28, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968. She then went on to graduate from Abilene Christian College, where she was a charter member of the social club called Sigma Theta Chi, otherwise known as “Siggies”. Elizabeth also received a Masters Degree from Lamar University, became an Educational Diagnostician, and spent the majority of her career in Fort Bend ISD.
Elizabeth and Albert spent 53 wonderful years together. They started dating in October of 1970, then were married on December 23rd, 1973, and went on to have 3 beautiful children, and 6 wonderful grandchildren.
Elizabeth was an avid follower of Christ and continuously shared her faith with others, always letting people know how much they were loved by God.
She loved her family more than anything. Her children and grandchildren were the absolute joy and light of her life.

passed away the morning of July 10, 2022, in Hondo, Texas. He was born in Fordyce, Arkansas to William "Mac" & Martha Timmerman on July 12, 1950. He married Bonnie Duncan in January of 1982 in San Antonio, Texas.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High in Port Arthur, Texas in 1968. He worked at the Texaco Refinery in Port Arthur, Texas from 1969-1970. Frank was drafted by the army and served 2 years before resuming his job with the refinery until 1977. He received an associate degree from Lamar University (Beaumont) and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Texas State University (San Marcos.) He worked for the Bexar Appraisal District for 24 years and then worked at A.P. Veltman & Associates for 10 years.
Frank was preceded in death by his brother, William "Mac" Timmerman Jr, his father Mac Timmerman Sr. & his mother, Martha Hankey Timmerman.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Bonnie Duncan Timmerman; his children: Shanna (Brian) Donaldson, Macy (Robert) Clark, Joshua Timmerman and Spencer (Melissa Castoreno) Timmerman; his sisters: Iva (Hector Caldera) Timmerman & Patsy (Alec) Goss; his grandchildren: CJ Donaldson (Taylor), Logan Donaldson, Leilani Timmerman, Spencer Timmerman II, Gloria Timmerman & Trent Lee Williams; great-grandchildren: Ava Donaldson & Nova Donaldson; mother-in-law Irene Duncan (Jose Villa); brothers-in-law: Robert (Theresa) Duncan, Ed (Sandra) Duncan & David Duncan as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

Gary Toups 8/23/50 - 5/27/71

20, of Port Acres, who drowned Thursday, May 27, 1971, while swimming with a companion in a West Beaumont canal, will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Grammier-Oberle 39th Street Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Little Flower of Jesus Catholic church in Port Acres with the Rev. Patrick O'Connel, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial park .The youth's body was recovered from the Port Arthur Fresh Water canal near the Beaumont Municipal airport by the Jefferson County Emergency corps. His companion, Mike Barbay, 21, said Toups was swept under about 4 p.m. by the swift current at the Missouri Pacific Railroad tracks. Barbay said he attempted to pull Toups to the bank, but the current was too strong. Justice of the Peace Wallace McCasland conducted an inquest and ruled death due to accidental drowning.
The youth was a 1968 graduate of Thomas Jefferson high school and was a senior at Lamar Tech. He had been employed at Texaco Island during the summer months. He was a native of Port Arthur and a member of Little Flower of Jesus Catholic church.
Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Toups; three sisters, Mrs. Doris J. Hebert, Mrs. Preston P. Pilcher, and Mrs. Garvy Benoit;two brothers, Leroy and Robert Mier; and grandmothers, Mrs. Zulmae Mier and Mrs. Ella Thompson. Pallbearers will be Mike Barbay, Danny Graffagnino, Jack Justillian, Ronald Collins, Nat Cardinez, and Donald Moss.

Michael Ray Turner 2/16/49 - 9/24/25

Mike was born on February 16, 1949, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Dorothy and Ray Turner. Born and raised in Port Arthur, he was a lifelong resident who deeply loved his community.
He proudly served his country as an Army veteran, a member of the Texas National Guard, and the Army Reserves. Mike worked many dedicated years at Chevron and its successor companies before retiring from refinery life. After retirement, he devoted himself to helping others and serving his community in countless ways.
He was actively involved with Circle of Hope, Run For The Wall, and served faithfully as Chaplain for Post 7 of the American Legion in Port Arthur—roles that he truly loved. Mike found great joy, pride, and purpose in supporting his fellow veterans, offering encouragement, prayer, and friendship wherever it was needed. His service to others was a reflection of his generous spirit and unwavering faith.
When they weren’t serving their community, Mike and his beloved wife, Linda Wappler Turner, dedicated their free time to working at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, continuing their shared purpose of helping others in their time of need. His warmth, compassion, and faith touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Mike’s deep love for the Lord guided every part of his life, and he was a devoted member of Peace Lutheran Church, where his kindness and servant’s heart shone brightly.
He was a man of service, laughter, and heart, and those closest to him will forever remember him saying: “That’s all for now.”
Mike is survived by his loving wife Linda; his sons Chad Turner and Jason Turner and wife Rachael; and his cherished granddaughter Sydney Turner.
He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Turner and his brother Greg Turner.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Peace Lutheran Church, 5801 W Jefferson St., Groves, TX 77619, followed by a Celebration of Mike’s Life at 1:00 PM.
All motorcycle riders that would like to make "One last ride with Mike" are asked to meet at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM to lead Mike to Peace Lutheran Church for his Celebration of Life.
Mike will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, loyal friend, and selfless servant to others. His faith, kindness, and love for his community will continue to live on in all the hearts he touched. Well done, good and faithful servant.

Zemly Lou Turner 1/24/51 - 10/7/19

68, of Belton, Texas went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2019, due to complications associated with Parkinson’s Disease. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Brother Bobby Johnson officiating and Brother Andy Davis bringing the message from Matthew 25:40. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday, October 14 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Dossman Funeral Home. Zemly Lou was born in Port Arthur, Texas on January 24, 1951, to Horace E. and Fannie Courtney Turner. Zemly was named after her maternal grandmother. She had two older brothers Max Rue and Edward Hugh. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Arthur and accepted Christ as her Savior as a teenager. Zemly graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968. Zemly moved to Belton to attend Mary Hardin-Baylor where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 1971. Zemly’s gift and passion was caring for the people around her. She made helping people, especially children, her life’s work. Zemly began her career as a social worker for the State of Georgia working with rural families receiving welfare benefits. She had many stories of the adventures she had there. Zemly then returned to Texas in 1978 to be an Adoption Specialist for the Edna Gladney Center in Fort Worth. During her 20 years there, Zemly placed hundreds of babies from the US and East Asia into loving adoptive families. Many of the adoptive families continued to thank Zemly by sending her updates and pictures of the children as they grew into beautiful adults. Zemly continued her education by earning her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Dallas’s Amber University in 1998. Zemly was then named as the Director of The Pregnancy Lifeline in Fort Worth. She counseled, and trained volunteers to counsel, girls and families faced with unplanned pregnancies giving them the faith and courage to choose life. Desiring to be near family, Zemly moved back to Belton in 2004. She worked as a child and adolescent counselor at Cedar Crest, Metroplex Pavilion and Lone Star Circle of Care. Zemly enjoyed time with her family, flower gardening, and bird watching. When she was asked what she wanted to do for Christmas or where she wanted to go on vacation, Zemly almost always said, “It doesn’t matter as long as I am with y’all.” Zemly retired in 2017 as the physical and mental effects of Parkinson’s Disease became an insurmountable hurdle. Zemly is survived and missed by her sister-in-law Rita Turner of Temple, niece Debbi and husband Michael Barkley of Belton, nephew David and Barbara Turner of Yuba City, California, great-nieces Elizabeth and Jon Graham of Belton, Grace Turner of Yuba City, California, and numerous cousins in and around Walker, Louisiana. The family thanks Amedisys Hospice, the staff at Meridian of Temple, and First Baptist Church Belton for their loving care of Zemly and our family during this last month.

Charline Valenciano 10/10/50 - 4/3/26

Charline Angela Valenciano Allen, 75 years old, of Groves, Texas, passed away on April 3, 2026, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. She was the daughter of Ralph Lopez Valenciano and Josephine Rosalie Anselmo Valenciano.
Charline was artistic, and loved arts and crafts. Her caring nature made her a devoted caregiver, always ready to help others. She was known for her warm smile and charismatic personality, never meeting a stranger. In her younger years, Charline enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, a love she carried throughout her life. She also cherished horses and delighted in watching western movies.
Charline was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother Josephine Valenciano, her father Ralph Valenciano, her sister Angela Valenciano, and her brother-in-law O.W. Withrow.
She is survived by her daughters, Jamie Hargrave and husband Robbie, and Lori Hazlerig and husband Eliott. Her grandchildren include Jordon Hargrave and wife Brianna, Brittany Garoutte and husband Harley, Brianna Hargrave and fiancé Hagen, Cody Hargrave, Makenzi Hargrave, and Jake Whitehead. Charline also leaves behind great-grandchildren Trevor, Tatum, Emma, Zane, and Wrenly. Her nephews are Bryan Withrow, Ralph Valeniano, and Ben Miller. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters Pam Withrow, Paula Miller and husband L.J., and Joann Worthy.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Grammier-Oberle, located at 4841 39th Street, Port Arthur, Texas. Public visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 AM. Pastor Blake Alling will lead the ceremony. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches.
The pallbearers for the service will be Robbie Hargrave, Danny Holberg, Harley Garoutte, Trevor Garoutte, Jake Whitehead, and Jordon Hargrave.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Charline Allen’s name.

Michael Elwood Varing 7/26/49 - 9/3/24

Michael , age 75, passed away on September 3, 2024. Born on July 26, 1949, in Port Arthur, Texas, Michael's life was marked by his dedication to his career and personal pursuits. He was a 1970 graduate of Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science and worked as a mortician at Levingston Funeral Home. He later built a career as a power plant operator, ultimately retiring with over 30 years of service from Valero Refinery (formerly Gulf Oil, Chevron, Clark, & Premcor). He also served as a volunteer firefighter at the refinery and in his former neighborhood of Lakeview.
Throughout his life, Michael followed his passions, which included poker, frequenting casinos, and managing rental property. His involvement with the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union (OCAW/USW) was a testament to his professional commitment. In his earlier years, he spent time coaching Bellaire Chillers softball team and Diamond Ambulance Little League, fostering athletic skills and team values in young athletes. Michael also regularly attended Encounter Church in Groves, finding a place of community there.
Michael is survived by the mother of his children and constant support system, Beth Varing; his daughter, Brandy Varing; and his sons, Justin Varing and wife Miranda, and Jordan Varing. He was a grandfather to eight grandchildren: Jaedon, Meghan, Landon, Ava, Caydence, Justin "J.J.", Bailey, and Brandon. He is also survived by his brothers, Donald Varing and wife Lorraine, Jerry Varing and wife Nellie, Donald Loiacano and wife Pamela J., Achille Loiacano, Jr. and wife Pamela K, and his sister, Jackie Hanna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Marshall and Darlene Boutin Marshall, and his biological father Achille Loiacano, Sr. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Melancon~Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, with a funeral service to follow on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the same location. Michael will be interred at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, TX.
While his life had its complexities, his impact, in both positive and challenging ways, will be remembered by those who knew him.

63, of Nederland, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at his residence in Nederland with his loving family by his side. Hugh was born June 30, 1950 to the late Horace Troy and Barbara Jean Weatherly in Port Arthur. Hugh proudly served his country in The U. S. Navy and was a supervisor in the steel manufacturing industry.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Melancon’s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, TX 77627, with military services being conducted at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Mr. Wheeler, a native of Jeffersonville , Ind. , and resident of Port Arthur since 1957, died at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 1974, in St. Mary Hospital following an automobile accident. David Wolf 9/11/49 - 3/1/87

37, former resident of Port Arthur , Texas died March 1, 1987 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania . Mr. Wolf graduated from Lamar University in 1972. He was born and raised in Port Arthur and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968. He was a substitute teacher in the Port Arthur Public Schools before moving to Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania in 1972. Mr. Wolf was an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church International headquartered in Saint Louis, Missouri. He entered home missions work in 1972 and moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to build and establish the First Pentecostal Church in Pittsburgh. He pastored that for his work with youth in "Who's Who in Young Businessmen of America." At the time of his death, he was a field supervisor with the Boy Scouts Three River Council of Pittsburgh. He was an Eagle Scout and worked with young people throughout his life. He had been an Evangelist for the past few years and was working to establish a new church in Northside, Pittsburgh when he passed away. In his Evangelist work, he has preached in forty-five states and six different countries.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wolf; two brothers, his twin, Daniel G. Wolf and Harry Joe Wolf; and a sister, Becky Hille; four nephews, Glenn, Derek, and Travis Wolf, and Robbie Hille. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 4, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle, Port Arthur , Texas with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery . Reverend Robert Mitchell of Houston will be the main speaker. A memorial service will be held later in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania . Pall bearers will be Glenn Wolf, Dan Hurd, Jay Loftin, Sterling Watkins, Wayne Rodgers, Reverend Bill Davis, Reverend Joel Barnaby, and Ronnie Wilhoite. A memorial has been established in Pittsburgh for continuation of The Gospel in that city.

She was born September 11, 1950 in Port Arthur, Texas to the union of the late Leonard Arthur Woodard, Jr. and Alberta Rayon Woodard.
Phyllis was the epitome of class, grace, and elegance. She was a leader and helper to all who was in need. She wore many titles, but she was most proud to be a mother, matriarch, grandmother, sister, wife, aunt and friend. To her many talents and hobbies, she was an excellent cook, enjoyed scrapbooking, volunteer work, games, and ministering to anyone who listen about the Lord. Phyllis was a faithful member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Deaconess and Vacation Bible School Director.
Phyllis attended Port Arthur Schools: Sacred Heart School, grades K-9, Lincoln High School, 10th grade, Thomas Jefferson High School, 11th & 12th grade. Phyllis was raised in Rock Island Baptist Church, where she participated in Sunday School, worship (including Junior church) Training Union, Choir, Vacation Bible School, Sunday School Teacher, and Church Clerk. Her community activities include her as a chartered member of Epsilon Theta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Secretary of Port Arthur’s Beautification Committee, and Board member of Gulf Coast Community Health Center.
