The Cincinnati Bengals went on a big search for quarterback help this week before landing on the deal to acquire Joe Flacco .
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, some fan theories were true: The Bengals even reached out to retired quarterback Derek Carr .
In addition to those two, Rapoport says the Bengals reached out about names like Davis Mills and Sam Howell .
For what it's worth, Rapport said the Bengals did not reach out to Ryan Tannehill , though, another notable quarterback out of the league who gets a call every now and then from teams.

Initial reports said the Bengals worked the trade phones for about 48 hours before going with Flacco. These new reports don't say if the other options mentioned were too pricey or what the reasons were, though cost and teams being unwilling to trade quarterbacks at all are obvious factors.
What's notable is that prior reporting has confirmed the Bengals didn't care to reach out to New York for one of Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston , which speaks to how those passers are viewed right now.
As for Flacco, the Bengals will start him on short notice and obviously enjoyed the built-in bonuses of his learning many new offenses over the years and having already played against Green Bay once this season.
