Broncos Wire 's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at fourth-year running back Tyler Badie , No. 28.
Before the Broncos :Badie was selected in the sixth round ( 196th overall ) of the 2022 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens , out of Missouri. Badie was waived by the Ravens before the season began, but spent most of the year on the Ravens' practice squad. The Denver Broncos signed Badie off Baltimore's practice squad on December 29, 2022.
Broncos tenure:Badie was immediately thrust into service in the final game of the 2022 season, carrying the ball once for no yards, and catching one pass for 24 yards and a touchdown on his first career touch .
Badie spent the 2023 season on the Denver practice squad. In 2024, Badie played in four games: three regular season contests and the Broncos' wild card playoff appearance against the Buffalo Bills . Badie totaled 13 carries for 96 yards, catching three passes for negative two yards. Badie might have been poised for a bigger role last fall had he not suffered a scary back injury against the New York Jets in Week 4. He then missed 13 games before returning for the playoffs.
Chances to make the 53-man roster:On the bubble. Before the Broncos signed J.K. Dobbins , Badie had a better chance of making the active. Now, one of the biggest questions heading into training camp is how many running backs Denver will carry on the 53-man roster. If the Broncos carry four running backs on the active roster, Badie might be a candidate for the practice squad. Thanks in part to his impressive pass blocking , though, Badie could be a sleeper to make the 53-man roster. We'll see how the backfield shakes out this summer.
