After promoting fullback Adam Prentice from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Wednesday, the Denver Broncos filled Prentice's former spot on the practice squad by signing defensive back A.J. Woods .
Woods (5-9, 186 pounds) played wide receiver and cornerback at Northwest High School before switching to cornerback full-time at Pittsburgh . He spent five years at Pitt, appearing in 59 games. The cornerback totaled 105 tackles, 25 pass breakups, four interceptions and two sacks with college football's Panthers .

The Washington Commanders signed Woods as an undrafted free agent in 2024, but he failed to make their 53-man roster. Woods then joined the Philadelphia Eagles ' practice squad, where he spent all of the 2024 season. Woods is yet to appear in a regular season game in the NFL, but he received a ring after the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX last season.
