- Caleb Wilson's communication with Henri Veesaar standing out early
The UNC basketball team, fresh off a 15-point win over Radford on Tuesday night, looked to continue its early-season dominance against NC Central on Friday night.
Despite another slow start in the first half, North Carolina pulled away heading into halftime and out of the breaking, dominating the Eagles in a 97-53 final score.
All 16 Tar Heels (4-0) played in Friday's blowout, with their star-studded post duo of Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar stealing headlines. Wilson recording his fourth double-double in as many games, netting a game-high 21 points while adding 12 rebounds, while Veesaar notched his second double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) in four contests.
After the big win, Wilson highlighted his and Veesaar's impact on UNC's early success , particularly as both are playing their first season in Chapel Hill.
"Henri's a great player," Wilson said. "We just talk and communicate. Throughout the preseason, we have to talk about what we're good at, we have to talk about what we see what we can get from each other. You know, me being really athletic and him being able to play a stretch kind of position. So it all just comes with communication. Henri's tall, athletic just like me. It's all about being unselfish and trusting your guy."
The tallest NC Central (1-4) player stood 6'9", while Wilson and Veesaar are two of six guys standing a minimum 6'10" for North Carolina.
Navy comes to the Dean Dome for a 7 p.m. tip-off this coming Tuesday night. Can Wilson and Veesaar continue their early-season dominance against the Midshipmen (2-2)?
