Ashton Grable will have one final opportunity to perform before professional football scouts after his senior season at Florida A&M .
On Oct. 2, the HBCU Legacy Bowl announced that the Rattlers' redshirt senior offensive lineman will participate in the postseason all-star game for players from Black Colleges.
Since its 2022 inception, the Legacy Bowl has been good to the FAMU football program. The Rattlers boast the most Most Valuable Player honorees in Antwan Collier (2022), Xavier Smith (2023), and Daniel Richardson (2024) in the game's four-year history.
The Legacy Bowl is on Feb. 21, 2026, at Yulman Stadium on Tulane University's New Orleans campus. The game will be televised on the NFL Network.
Grable has been a star for FAMU football since transferring from Jacksonville State in 2023 , when he immediately became a starter for the Rattlers' Black College National Championship team that year.
The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder has been a selection for the postseason Southwestern Athletic Conference honors, making the second team in 2023 and the first team in 2024.
The Gordon, Georgia native was named a 2025 Preseason HBCU All-American by BOXTOROW. Grable, who can play center, guard, and tackle, also has a shot to make an NFL roster, ranking fourth in ESPN's top 10 HBCU draft prospects .
The Rattlers are on an unplanned bye week after the Georgia Football Classic game , scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 4, at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium versus the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils, was cancelled.
Questions emerged about a past-due $25,000 payment from the game promoters to FAMU to book the Rattlers football team, band, cheerleaders, and mascot for the neutral-site game at the 71,000-seat NFL venue. It played a role in the SWAC game being rescheduled for Nov. 29 and relocated to Mississippi Valley's Rice-Totten Stadium in Itta Bena, scrapping the Georgia Football Classic in the process.
FAMU football, off to a 1-3 start, returns to action at home when it hosts an old Mid-Eastern Athletic foe, North Carolina Central , next Saturday, Oct. 11, on Ken Riley Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. on HBCU GO and will also be announced on 96.1 JAMZ.
