SPOKANE, Wash. — It was given that LSU women's basketball star Flau'jae Johnson was going to be playing hurt during the team's run through the NCAA Tournament, no matter how far it advanced.
She missed the last game of the regular season and the SEC Tournament for the Tigers after Kim Mulkey shut her dow n with what the coach categorized as " shin inflammation."
But Johnson told The Daily Advertiser following LSU's 72-65 loss to UCLA on Sunday in the Elite Eight in Spokane, Washington, that she dealt with more than shin pain.

"I've got to let my leg heal," Johnson said after the game when asked what's next for her. "I got a stress reaction in my shin. I've got to let it heal and then I'm going to get back to working out."
Johnson played through the injury the last week-plus, wearing a compression sleeve on her right leg after she returned the action in the opening round of March Madness.
Over the course of the four games LSU played, Johnson averaged 16.5 points per game during the NCAA Tournament.
