The cornerbacks brought elite athleticism and confidence to the spotlight at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis . In a league driven by explosive passing offenses, shutdown corners are among the most valuable assets a defense can have, and this year's group showed why teams are always searching for the next lockdown defender.

From the opening whistle at Lucas Oil Stadium, speed was the headline. The 40-yard dash remains one of the most important tests for cornerbacks, as teams want defenders who can run stride-for-stride with the fastest wide receivers in the league. Several prospects posted impressive times, reinforcing their ability to stay on top of vertical routes and recover if beaten early in a play.

Among the most intriguing storylines was the presence of the Washington cornerback duo, Ephesians Prysock and Tacario Davis . Both defensive backs stood out immediately because of their rare size and length for the position.

Prysock impressed scouts with his tall frame and long arms garnering a 9.90 RAS ranking 29 out of 2,779 CBs since 1987, traits that make him particularly effective in press coverage. During drills, he displayed smooth footwork for a bigger corner and showed the ability to stay patient at the line before turning and running with receivers downfield. His length allows him to contest passes even when slightly out of position, giving quarterbacks very little margin for error.

Another eye-catching performance came from Dillon Thieneman of Oregon. Thieneman showcased both explosiveness and instincts throughout testing. His burst in the jumping drills demonstrated strong lower-body power, while his quickness in agility drills highlighted his ability to react and change direction efficiently. During on-field drills, he displayed sharp breaks on the football and confident hands, traits that translate directly to creating turnovers at the next level.
