En route to a 108-94 loss to the New York Knicks in Game 3 of their second-round series, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid claims he wasn’t thinking about Knicks’ fans’ overwhelming presence at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. After the loss, 76ers head coach Nick Nurse commended Embiid’s effort of playing through a sprained right ankle and a lingering hip injury.
After losing to the Knicks, a reporter asked Embiid about the traveling Knicks fans in attendance for Game 3, per SNY Knicks.
“I don’t know. I was focused on the game,” Embiid said. “I wasn’t really paying attention.”
76ers fans probably find it hard to believe, given the loud, rowdy New York fans, that watching their team en route to a 14-point win and a commanding 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals had to be deafening for Joel Embiid. All five Sixers starters scored in double figures, led by Kelly Oubre Jr’s 22 points. Tyrese Maxey added 17 points and seven assists.

Amid a sprained right ankle injury and a hip injury, 76ers center Joel Embiid played in Game 3 after missing Game 2. After Friday’s loss, 76ers head coach Nick Nurse gave Embiid credit for fighting through the pain to help his team win and try to capture its first win of the second-round series.
“I thought he gave us everything he could. I really do,” Nurse said. “I think he tried to give us everything he could tonight, and that’s all he can do.”
Embiid finished with 18 points on 7-for-17 attempts, six rebounds, five assists, and three blocks against the 76ers. There’s no official word on whether Embiid will be cleared to play in Game 4 on Sunday.
