It's been said that if you can make it in New York , you can make it anywhere. Well, the New York Yankees are just trying to make it. They are currently on a five-game losing streak .
On Sunday, they lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 and are now 8-7 to start the season. Despite all this, Yankees manager Aaron Boone isn't raising alarm bells , per SNY Yankees.
If anything, Boone is keeping his eye on the ball.
"Focused," he said. "Just diving into what we need to do to be successful tonight. I feel like there's a lot of confidence in the group that we'll know we'll get it going."
Meanwhile, New York is embarking on a four-game home series against the Los Angeles Angels . On Monday, fans were mystified as to why Ben Rice wasn't in the lineup , despite leading the AL in OPS with 1.256.
In addition to Rice, the Yankees have a talented lineup with sluggers Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton , as well as the sustainability of infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. Plus, they have growing depth in their pitching rotation led by the duo of Gerrit Cole and Max Fried.
However, New York is being marred by offensive woes, with its team batting average at .156 during this five-game skid. Third baseman Ryan McMahon is batting .114, and shortstop Jose Caballero is batting .146 while filling in for the injured Anthony Volpe .
Plus, they are leaving guys on base without putting them in scoring position.
Boone has been the manager since December 4, 2017. In his eight seasons, the Yankees have made the playoffs seven times. In 2024, New York won the American League Pennant.
