Rumors and discussions of a potential Mike Trout trade have swirled for years. In fact, Stephen A. Smith recently brought up the idea during an ESPN First Take segment. Trout has made his loyalty to the Halos clear, though, and the Angels seem to feel the same way. Los Angeles is hoping Trout can lead the ball club to its first postseason appearance since 2014. According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, the Angels will not be trading Trout anytime soon.

“If he is this for the first half, and their rotation remains what it is right now, pretty impressive things going on, they’re in contention,” Rosenthal said, via Foul Territory. “And they’re not trading Mike Trout , not even thinking about trading Mike Trout… I can’t imagine anything changing because even if the Angels want to trade him, he has said repeatedly he doesn’t want to go. I would think that that is the direction that this is going to end up in.”
Rosenthal also mentioned that the American League West is “more wide open” than what was initially expected. The Seattle Mariners , who were the favorite to win the division, are currently 8-12 and tied with the Houston Astros for last place in the division. Meanwhile, the Angels are 10-10 and only a half-game back of the Texas Rangers and Athletics for first place.
Sure, it is too early to pay too much attention to the standings. However, the Angels look better than they have in a while. Trout is swinging the bat especially well at the moment. The Trout trade rumors will not even be a discussion if the Halos find a way to compete in 2026.
And even if they don’t compete, it still seems unlikely that Trout will end up wearing a different uniform anytime soon.
