Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has the chance to tie NFL history with a win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon. Nix currently stands alone with the second-most wins (23) through a quarterback's first two seasons in the league, just behind his Broncos predecessor, Russell Wilson (24).
Nix has been a part of a lot of NFL and team history this year, most recently as the third quarterback to reach at least 25 passing scores and 3,500 passing yards in each of his first two seasons, joining Justin Herbert (2020-21) and Peyton Manning (1998-99). Nix currently has 3,790 yards and 25 passing touchdowns going into a Week 18 matchup against the Chargers.
"I thought he came up with some really big plays," coach Sean Payton said of Nix's performance against the Kansas City Chiefs last week.
In the win over the Chiefs, Nix also became just the fourth quarterback in Broncos history to win a game at Arrowhead in December, joining John Elway, Peyton Manning and Kyle Orton . (If Nix continues to play at this high of a level, he may also be the last Denver quarterback to win a game in December at Arrowhead ).
"This was one of those games where, as you were playing it, you knew you weren't going to throw for a lot of yards," said Nix after the Week 17 win. "You want to see how many completions you can hit in a row and get the ball to playmakers in space and get first down after first down. You knew they were going to put a lid on it, but patience is key in a game like that. It is all about patience, one cut after another."
Along with the history Nix could make in Week 18, the Broncos seek to capture the AFC's No. 1 overall seed , a feat they can accomplish with a simple win.
