BOSTON — After practice on Thursday, Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov indicated that there was an injury he was playing through, but wouldn’t provide details until after the season.
Following the Bruins’ season-ending 4-1 loss to the Sabres in Game 6 on Friday, Zadorov came clean.
“I tore my MCL in Game 3. Fully torn off the bone. I played on it a little bit,” Zadorov said before ending his media availability.
Zadorov, who was a game-time decision in Game 4, actually had his workload increase in the games after the injury. He played 19:20 in Game 4, 23:11 in Game 5, which went to overtime, and 21:52 on Friday.
Zadorov didn’t indicate which knee or whether surgery was required.
Zadorov played 81 games during the regular season, the most of any Boston defenseman. He had two goals and 20 assists and led the NHL with 152 penalty minutes.
