BOSTON — Hampus Lindholm skated before Bruins morning skate on Thursday and while Marco Sturm was encouraged by that progress, he was hesitant to target a return date.
“That’s good news. He will be out this week. We’ll see this weekend where he’s going to be at,” Sturm said before the Bruins ’ game against the Calgary Flames .
Lindholm is on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. According to I.R. rules, the earliest he could return is Sunday, when the Bruins host the Penguins at TD Garden.
“That’s something for the doctors to decide,” Sturm said. We will look at it on the weekend and move forward."
Lindholm was placed on injured reserve on Jan. 6, retroactively to Jan. 3 when the Bruins activated Henri Jokiharju .
Sturm initially said the injury wasn’t day-to-day, but hasn’t been more specific.
Lindholm’s 22:10 ice time per game is second on the Bruins. He has three goals and 11 assists in 34 games this year.
