The Montreal Canadiens will be looking to make some noise in the playoffs, but unfortunately, they’ll be without one of their key players for a few weeks, according to the team.
“Defenseman Noah Dobson sustained an upper-body injury and will be re-evaluated in two weeks,” the Canadiens wrote on X , formerly Twitter.
In a corresponding move, the Canadiens recalled David Reinbacher , who was the No. 5 pick in the 2023 draft.
Dobson left during the second period of their latest game against the Columbus Blue Jackets after he blocked Zach Werenski ’s slap shot with his left hand.
The defenceman has been key for the Canadiens this season, as he has 12 goals and 35 assists in 80 games. He entered the game against the Blue Jackets tied for the NHL lead with 187 blocked shots.
“He plays big minutes, great on breakout, transition, he kind of can do it all,” coach Martin St. Louis said via Sportnet. “I was surprised that he leads the league in blocked shots, which was another element, so he brings a lot.”
The Canadiens will also be without Alexandre Carrier to start the playoffs, as he is still recovering from an upper-body injury suffered at the beginning of the month. Carrier had joined the Canadiens in a midseason trade from the Nashville Predators last season and played in all 77 games during the 2025-26 season.
The Canadiens currently are in third place in the Atlantic Division with two games left in the regular season. The hope is that they can stay afloat when the playoffs approach despite the injuries they’re dealing with.
