Celtics assistant general manager Dave Lewin is a finalist for the open Bulls president of basketball operations position, a source confirms to MassLive. NBA insider Jake Fischer was the first to report Lewin had advanced to the finalist stage of the Bulls search.
Timberwolves GM Matt Lloyd, Hawks Senior VP of basketball operations Bryson Gray am and Pistons VP of basketball operations Dennis Lindsey are also finalists in the Bulls' search according to Fischer.
The Bulls dismissed Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley on April 6 after the team went just 224-254 across six seasons under their leadership. The team had not qualified for the postseason since 2021-22. Head coach Billy Donovan also announced after the regular season ended that he was parting ways with the franchise.
Lewin joined the Celtics in 2012 after beginning his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers front office. He has steadily risen through the ranks in Boston during the past decade, serving as director of scouting and director of player personnel before being promoted to assistant GM for the last four years.
The Celtics lost another key part of their front office last offseason when Austin Ainge left Boston and took the president of basketball operations position with the Utah Jazz .
The Bulls are "on pace" to hire a new top executive before the NBA Draft Combine on May 10, per Fischer. The Bulls went 31-51 last season and have two first-round picks (their own and Portland's) in this year's draft.
